More people are been killed and injured by the Nigeria police across all state because of Ashura really.

Ashura is a religious observance for Muslims all over the world. Ashura literally means tenth, and it is celebrated on the 10th day of Muharram, first month on the Islamic calendar.

The IGP yesterday threatened Nigerian citizens with death if they embark on a peaceful religious procession. After killing people on the procession, media houses will be reporting that Shi'ites "clashed" with police. After that threat, whatever happens today should not be regarded as a "clash" but an assault and attack on Shi'ites.

What happens to the government declaration that they are banning an organization and not the Shi'ite religion? Is this not a religious procession? Why forcefully disperse them? Where is the respect for freedom of religion? Is it not the same Ashura procession that takes place here in the heart of London peacefully? Does the British police attack Shi'ites during their procession? Or are Nigerians now living in Wahhabi Saudi Arabia? There is freedom of religion in Nigeria and there is religious tolerance.

This rubbish of attacking peaceful religious processions should stop.

The government said they proscribed the IMN and not all of the Shi'ites as a religion. IMN is both a political and religious movement. Shi'ites marking Ashura are purely carrying out a religious procession and not a political one. How can the police even know that all those Shi'ites in the procession are IMN members? What of those that are not? Shi'ites are known the world over, in different countries, for carrying out religious procession especially when they are marking Ashura.

Shiite and wahala! The security forces too must show restrain t when dealing with these people!

The malice the security forces have for these set of people they are now told to control is simply an extremely combustible material once they misbehave.

It is best the government learns from the British who are skilled in handling matters like this. Their time as colonialists seems to have thought them a lot lessons

The true religion of Islam, is a peaceful religion. That going against the constituted authority is haram. If the government says no to procession why go against them ?. The children of 8 want another civil war to break out Nigeria, that's why they support Shite, Boko boys & ipobians. Well we are war with poverty not fellow humans.

In 2015, the North said "sai baba buhari or death" and ever since then they've been dying left, right centre. Still 4yrs later them still mumu themselves and were yelling "sai baba or death" again. Now the death is coming in like tsunami from bokoharam to fulani terrorist bandits to NPF. I hope they'll still be people left in the north by 2023.

Re: Ashura Procession In Nigeria: Dead And Injured People (Graphic Photos) by Charleys: 1:20pm On Sep 10, 2019
Do you know that Some Shi'a Muslims beat and flog themselves in parades on this day as an expression of their grief and to reenact the pain that Hussein suffered during his death (because that's what Ashura is all about for the sh'a)

So this shooting by the police should be welcomed by all the Shiite Muslims.
