I cannot solve all your complaints about Nairaland at once. At best, I can tackle issues one at a time after identifying which issues are most urgent, and even this requires the cooperation of my staff because there is not much that I can do by myself.

I don’t know why Nairalanders act as if all their complaints are one and the same when clearly, they are very different and require different solutions. It baffles me a lot. Someone says, “I am hungry”. Another says “me too, I haven’t had sex in 6 months”. A third person says “me too, my boss sacked me”. And they are all after me like, “why are you refusing to solve this problem?” “Nairaland is totally destroyed”, etc.

The most troubling thing mentioned so far are the image spammers. I thought we had handled them a few weeks ago after enabling a new moderating tool for the supermods. Did anyone notice the improvement? Did things get worse after getting better, or was there no noticeable improvement at any point?

My own seun is for you to come and close down this thread..it's has stayed too long...below is the link

Guy you're not being sincere. The politics section has turned into a daily tribal war dance. Everything is seen through tribal lense. Hense the insults. You mean you don't see it? You need someone to bring it to your attention? Fire your mods if they are not doing their job. Anybody that has been reading this site for more than 10yrs will tell you this is the worst it has ever been.

Don't let people that are here to push hateful agendas take over this site for the sake of traffic. While you feign ignorance. The buck stops at your desk sir
I concur! Can you imagine Seun telling us to show him these things. You are the owner of this Site for crying out loud! Once intellectual minds held sway on this forum, Katsumoto, Maxsioulloun, Kosovo, Davidylan.. to mention but a few. Even Musiwa was here for comic relief, but what do we have now, a bunch of deviants and ne'er-do-wells who populate this forum with half baked, infantile, tribal and nepotistic comments that have no bearing to sane reasoning.
Let me tell you all a short story. In 2013, I was serving in the far north in faraway Kebbi state. A village it was, very close to the Niger Rep. border without network service and very few social amenities. To pass off time, what I did was to climb a not so small hill, where I could get a bar or two of network service, save as many pages as possible of threads from nairaland and read. Then for a particular thread, I could save as much all the pages of that thread for future reading. Guess what, these days I don't even bother reading through a page of a thread to know it will be filled with useless comments. Even those threads that hold some promise sooner or later get derailed and nothing gets done to curtail it. This is my tenth year as a registered user on nairaland and to say I'm disgusted is to say the least. Something needs to change Seun. Get to work.

I must say there's been a noticeable change in the number of posts with pornographic content. As for your second paragraph, I'd say that trend of conversation is obvious trolling and should be punished with a ban, a reprimand or any other commensurate action that will serve as a deterrent. You can take a cue from a few foreign sites like quora, reddit etc. You get into those forums and you know there's no messing around. You contribute positively or you gonna get it.

what do you have to say about this?
Nairaland is doing just fine... It's a model of a society but virtual society. The people would always complain in a society even when everything is OK...
It's just the bet9ja and scammers that are troubling every thread and there is a report button for that already.
I would like to say, you have done a good job all these years and thanks for that.

Those Bloggers now want to turn NL to a dumping ground zone. You should stop this!

I once filtered to read post created in 2008/09/10.. God! The comments were all so helpful everyone was ready to help - no bashing, no insults, - no por.n images, no bet9ja scam advert, no data scam yahoo. Everything just tire me. !

Omo things don change gaan o. Some smart minds left Nairaland
when they couldn't take it anymore.

I can relate with some smart people leaving NL or not active here anymore.

Gone are the days I looked forward to engaging discussions on nairaland.

What you listed here are serious issues but I will urge you to take a little time and use the report button on all posts that insult you or anyone, all posts that use the afonja and IPOB words. That’s what I do. I don’t respond or quote them cos that will be enabling them the more and giving them a voice, I quietly use the report button. There is a report button for insults and bullying. Together we can take back this forum

Report button only hides the particular post from you. Others still see it.

And a mod banned me for commenting and saying the truth on this thread. So you think after the ban I will still be commenting on threads here? The mod that banned me should prepare to be commenting on threads and making them trend.

This is so childish.
To say I am disappointed will be an understatement.
I am honestly embarrassed on your behalf for what you typed above.
People mentioned irrelevant topics gracing fp,gave you examples which you also embarrassingly asked for, implying you don't even visit a site you created. There was also examples cited of blogs using Nland as a dumping ground for all sorts of stories reserved for when people are drunk on N20 shekpe. To compound issues these blog stories are littered with the kind of grammar some kindergarten pupils would feel ashamed to be heard speaking or typing.
What happened to promoting original content on nairaland to make it a go-to source for information by other media?Heck, there were times when mainstream media like Punch and blogs like Lindaikeji sourced news stories and opinions from here, but your lackadaisical attitude and freedom given to more or less some glorified poorly schooled secondary school graduates in name of moderators may have curtailed that.
What also happened to upgrading the appearance of the forum itself or you think upgrade is an exotic term reserved for foreign sites alone?
This your reply clearly summarises that you and the moderators are on the same wavelength of allowing"anything goes"on nairaland.
It's a shame.

Well said.
Very well said except for the upgrading the appearance part. Google has remained about the same in appearance since like forever.

Seun maclatunji. Kindly attend to this issue. There are certain monikers who get away with anything on cartalk and after raising hell get the mod to hide the entire thread on where they had been exposed as frauds or delete such comments. Pure image laundering and organised intimidation is ongoing on the cartalk section of this forum.

I said what I said because of your friend's rant of raising hell.

so what's my bis with who hides comment/thread on Nairaland.

you disgust me right now.

So you are not saying that mods posted pornographic content, you are saying that someone posted pornographic spam on a front page thread and the mods were slow to remove it. Okay good. This is the image spam issue that seems to be the most pressing. This is the complaint that I will have to focus on for now.
Seun, can you make the registration more strict and complex to avoid those spam guys to stop creating multiple accounts after getting them banned.

I suggest you add phone number verification to it.

The one I find the most irritating is why Seun has constantly looked the other way when mods push obviously divisive threads lifted from the tweeter pages of ffk and Reno to the fp.

I believe this is allowed because Seun et al believe such threads generate traffic, and the more the traffic on the site, the bigger the profits.

This forum is contributing it's unfair share to ruining this country.

In addition Seun, has RULE 9 been suspended? Has the need for traffic overtaken your sense of duty and patriotism as a Nigerian?

Do you also want nairaland to muzzle our lips against freedom of expression? When has criticisms of government policies and administration become a crime? Is this also the reason why Sowore is still in prison?

A government that is afraid of criticism is not worth to lead a diverse nation.

This is not APC official handle. This is a private handle which the APC has on many occasions disowned, yet anything tweeted from that handle ends up on Nairaland...

For the record...this is the Official APC handle on Twitter- @OfficialAPCNg.... Verified by Twitter.

Second, why do your Mods keep bringing every news about Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB and Biafra to the Front Page, while the Forum Forbids promotion of Secession related topics?

Third, when are you going to Verify some of us who have contributed to the growth of this forum?

Four: Why are you static as regards modernization of this great forum?

If you want a job here, man up and apply. If it suits Seun, he will employ you.

So when we report only the reporter cannot see it?

Does that mean when someone reports bet9ja only the reporter cannot see it, everyone else still can?

What the heck is the point of that??

Very useless indeed! Makes my complaint about my disappearing posts pointless too since I'm the only one who can't read it, which wouldn't matter since I wrote it to be read by others.

I think Nairaland has outgrown Seun's capabilities. He never conceived it would grow this big when he started it and now see him become a massive Icon on the web. I swear, if he could take his clothes off and post photos of his yansh like Tonto and Ikeji and them lot we'd all be going, "Seun for President of Nigeria!" But humble unassuming him, the qualities that have enabled him to achieve what he has achieved here, would not allow him go about naked. If he did the site would probably be called hisass and only he would be on it to the loss of the benefits we all derive from being here.

It must be daunting managing this site. And we Nigerians do not help with our lack of understanding, though I do blame Seun for not exactly explaining too. I can bet he'd have been approached by many who would make it their vanity project. Imagine if Atiku or bubu or Zuckerberg, Gates, Soros, China or some other wealth got their hands on us all! Then you got the scammers and the raiders who would want us for themselves! I can just about imagine the battles he would have to contend with to hold on to the site. Some other person would have sold us as slaves already when you start thinking numbers.

I am going to recommend you read Genesis 1, Seun. You must not believe a single word therein please, as it is not literally true, but open your eyes and see how gods build and perhaps see the steps therein that you have taken so far and the ones that need to follow. You are at the moment here. You done very well. You will do a lot more.

This is you.

kampari:
Sowore: To be fair to myself and everybody who has worked with me on this platform, in my estimation I have far exceeded my expectations of these platforms. I just wanted to set up a website that I could use in communicating with Nigerians, Africans and the rest of the world about happenings in sub-saharan Africa and doing so from the safety of the United States of America. I was expecting on an average, on a daily basis, of 200 or 300 people reading us and feeding back to us in giving informations but after 7 years, it’s gone way beyond that expectation. But in terms of the fulfilment of the mission, yes the site has covered a good distance but I think there’s still a few more to be done.
