It is not really a matter of blaming per se but rather one of pointing out we have to be careful of choices we make as these choices can come back later to hunt us. As per whether people who make mistake cannot turn around after realizing their mistake? You are correct too, but then it becomes difficult to trust the utterances and choices of such people again.
