Alexa Take the first step toward a future at McDonald’s with the restaurant’s new Apply Thru skill on Amazon Alexa- and Google Assistant-enabled devices.

Ask the disembodied voice to “help me get a job at McDonald’s” to start the application process.
“We must continue to innovate and think of creative, and in this case, groundbreaking ways to meet potential job seekers on devices they are already using, like Alexa,” McDonald’s Chief People Officer David Fairhurst said in a statement.

mcdonald Open Apply Thru to answer a few basic questions—including your name, job area of interest, and location. Potential applicants will then receive a link via text message to continue the process.

The action is currently available in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. It is expected to roll out to more countries “in the coming months.”

“We’re thrilled to see McDonald’s utilize voice to create a simpler, more convenient job application process for customers,” Alexa Vice President Steve Rabuchin said. “With Apply Thru, customers can start the process for a job at their nearest McDonald’s restaurant—all they need to do is ask.”

“Alexa has many of the qualities we look for on our teams—friendly, responsive, and fun,” Fairhurst added. “I am looking forward to having our application process simplified with Alexa.”

The world’s first voice-initiated application process is part of the company’s larger Made at McDonald’s campaign, which highlights the opportunities a first job, part-time job, or lifelong career at the fast-food joint can create.

Amazon this week unveiled more than a dozen new Echo products to house Alexa—including upgrades to its existing hardware.

The $60 Echo Dot now comes with a digital clock; there’s a mid-tier $130 Echo Show 8 smart touch display; and flagship $100 Echo boasts better sound and new colors; and the $200 Echo Studio adjusts its sound based on the room.
