I remember an uncle of mine back in the days who got drenched in the rain while trudging hurriedly to a babe's house to deliver a thoughtfully written love letter and painstakingly customized card on her birthday, only to get there and the babe tongue-lashed him  - calling him a pest and a stalker - in the presence of an Igbo 419 'nna-bros' who had come with a gleaming Benz 190 to take her out. She didn't even deign to glance at the 'pathetic' love-letter and birthday card that my lover-boy uncle brought. This was in 1991 or so. Uncle X still lives with that bitter experience to this day, and at every opportunity he keeps reminding us that "women na money for hand back for ground".
