He did the same thing at the all African games and succeeded. The AFN probably thinks the same rule applies at the world athletics championship. Nigeria may not participate in the 4x100 relays since they only entered 4 athletes. What a mess.

Is the athlete and AFN not aware of the rules or what? You can’t go about breaking competition rules and think there won’t be consequences. AFN officials should be sanctioned by the sport ministry.

A recurring decimal. This is one of my grouse with this shithole called Naija. AFN has a technical department that is present in Doha right? Right.
This technical department then reeks of irredeemable mediocrity if they don't know all of what the IAAF holy Grail says.
You would expect heads to roll ie people in this department loosing their jobs upon their return from Doha, right? Wrong. None will even get a query.
I am tempted to say "God help Naija" but I know He won't because naija is not ready to help herself.

@the above,

The rowdy support for those that spare no opportunity to point finger at authorities is beginning to become, in itself, a significant reason for the rise of mediocrity in Nigeria. It is creating a generation of entitled, lazy, uninspired and boring young people that get away with doing nothing because it is fashionable to blame government. Worst it is killing the Nations famed spirit of adventure get-up and go, innovative sprit and imagination. Ones Nigeria would be the nation that cast caution aside and built things regardless of the world lecturing us that we should be cautioned by such priorities as feeding and housing the poor not building the largest Mosque in Africa or trying to send rocket to orbit.

His performance in yesterday’s 200m was below par. So much hype about him but he failed as he managed a 4th place with a disappointing 20.40. Adam Gemili of Britain finished first.

He appealed his disqualification and was allowed to compete but his performance wasn’t enough to get him through to the next round.

Modified: Oduduru is into the next round. He qualified on the fastest loser rule.

Okagbare should try and get a medal in the 200.
Schippers of Holland, Ta Lou of Ivory Coast and Shelly Ann Fraser are not competing. Dina Asher Smith is highly favoured to take the gold medal here.
Re: Divine Oduduru Disqualified From IAAF World Championships by slam7000(m): 3:48pm On Sep 30, 2019
Okagbare ran in lane 9. She was fourth in her heat but has been disqualified for stepping on the lane 8 line twice.

Another bad day for Nigeria athletics. She is the only athlete this year to have ran faster than Dina Asher Smith but has come up short again...does well during the season but on the big stage, she disappoints.
