Project writing can be quite challenging for final year students

Are confused and aloof as to how to write your projects?

Perhaps you were not guided on what it takes to research to conduct a research and what determines your best approach to a research question?

How do you know if you should engage in a quantitaive or qualitative research?

How do you formulate your hypothesis?

How do you link your research questions to hypothesis?

what is the criteria for selecting and reviewing literature?

How do you link theories to your research?

These are questions which should be on your mind

When writing our projects, theses or dissertations, most of us hurriedly start off by writing the introduction.

This is a failed strategy. You are likely to run into a brick wall in the course of your research.

Your research should start of with a question. What am I trying to prove? What problem am I researching on? What problem in society would my research cover.

This is what is contained in your statement of the problem. This section summarises whatever your research is going to do.

By scanning your statement of the problem, one can know how viable your research would be. One can know how in-depth your study would be without even having to read your hypotheses. This is why it is important to problematise your research before anything.

Having a clear statement of problem sets the foundation for your research questions, objectives, possible hypotheses and appropriate methodology to use.
