Google Photos recently announced a new feature to its integrated AI tool, Google Lens, that allows you to search for texts appering in images on your devices. Google Photos announced this via their official Twitter page recently.

Normally, the smart AI utilises OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to scan text, shop, discover new places and other incredible stuffs. As it is, the Artificial Intelligence is a powerful tool, and things just got more interesting.

The new feature allows you to locate texts in your photos and screenshots by searching for them in the Google Photos library. Not just that, once the texts have been identified in the images, you can use the Google Lens to copy and paste them in whatever form you want, be it a note or document.

So, the fact that you don’t have to pick a photo before you scan for texts makes it all the more enthralling. Realizing that you can either select a photo to search for text , as well as search for the text without even choosing a photo is fantastic. The possible explanation for this is that Google Phones uses the OCR on all photos and retains the metadata in your library automatically.



Anyways, since it has started rolling out, you just have to update this app (if you haven’t) and chill till you’re served with this new feature.
