Security personnel, including officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police, have taken over the Bayelsa House of Assembly.

Before the deployment of heavy security, sporadic gunshots were heard within the premises of the state legislature.

At least 10 security vehicles with several scores of policemen are in the Assembly premises, which has now been locked to incoming vehicles and visitors.

Confusion arose following the refusal of the speaker, Emmanuel Isenah, to resign as a result of pressure from the PDP leadership in the state.

Those who are insisting that he must step down are hinging it on the need to balance the power-sharing formula in the state because he hails from the same area as the PDP candidate, Douye Diri.

Isenah insists that he remains speaker, while he was allegedly impeached by his colleagues this morning , following his refusal to resign.

PDP doesn't deserve to win the governorship election in bayelsa honestly . Lawlessness everywhere . I'm sure if it was another party Reno or ffk would have tweeted by now.

Now I'm even doubting if resource control or state police can even function well in this country .

But is it not same issue with apc? Was apc lawlessness not the reason they got disqualified in some states? U guys dont just understand that party is just a non living thing, but humans function in political parties. some of these guys causing problems here and there in these parties can always swap to another party.
