Thank God this man is not an Igbo man, the chest-beating about being the best tribe in Nigeria would have full here.

We would have seen reactions like: "We made Nigeria what it is today, an average Igbo man excels in everything he does from business to academics. Igbos are naturally talented and always the best wherever they are. Igbo amaka grin grin

Many Nigerians suffering today came from good background. .. During the last generation, people lived better than now..this generation has to suffer a lot..that's the point I'm making..I remember an MP rebuking Abike Dabiri when she claimed her...The Nigerian MP said she is British

Who put this curse on us Oh Lord of Sango!

To cover up our failures at home, the children of many Firsts at Home are celebrating refugees outside their Region.

Small time nah, they will be blaming lack of enabling environment. Why don't you ask these refugees and untouchables how they excel against all odds in an environment more hostile than home?

Remember they said his father was the CMD at UCH Ibadan in the late 70's, so he must have been born here, and likewise identify with your "shithole" country, no matter its horrible condition.

He had to go outside Nigeria to be recognised, if he were in Nigeria he may still be waiting for his PH.d. professorship will not happen because of politics. They would have frustrated the man.

You are quite right. The respected Emeritus Prof. of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Prof. E O Akande has always been part of UI and UCH. He was both the CMD and 1st Provost, College of Medicine of UI. He is still very much around and finds time to attend most important events of the institutions. Dapo is certainly proudly Nigerian and we are grateful for both father and son.

The last time I checked academic success is a monotony of sameness . The firsts were the best models for it, others who came along either stole from their ideas or stood on their shoulders proudly.
