Even Local government need devolution of power from the state.Governance is too far from the real place where impact are felt, 1999 government is like arm length away, now it's too big to even think of... VP speech make sense if we will lend our force and voice to this. God bless Nigeria.

Yoruba leaders need to rise up and direct this movie.

First they must not allow community and state policing, it will tie Yoruba's hand in their states since we have more foreigners in our land than any other region of Nigeria, and will give foreigners who are concentrated in certain areas a say in policing of those areas and the state in general.

Regional and ciry/town police is the only way for Yoruba. and what we must insist on. The only way to agree to community and state policing is if 99% of the police are natives of the area, which is a long shot. I think the nigeria police should be restricted to Abuja and let every region create its own police.

Yoruba, use your head and stop being pushed around.

Anywhere, this is a conversation starter!

Totally agree. I like the images of the Kebbi State governor (I think) with the CBN chief on an investment visit to Anambra and later Cross-River both relating to the rice industry which Kebbi State is a major player.

These are the pathways I believe are the shortest to creating a viable and sustainable model for national development, one in which the federating states compete and collaborate, each side bringing its comparative advantage to the table and exchanging it for what it lacks and needs.

Such will engender mutual respect and a deeper sense of responsibility and patriotism than the present system of inordinate patronage, psychologically cripplling subsidies and rent seeking called the national project.

Excellent speech from Prof Osinbajo. Restructuring is the way to go. If the enemies of progress are opposed to restructuring, then the country should disintegrate so that the progressive ones can move forward.
I guess Prof. Osinbajo has seen the light.

I am with the Vice President on this, it's time the federal government empower the state government more, especially in terms of security, infrastructure and so on. You spoke well Prof
It is not the Federal Government that gave itself those powers, it is your elected members of the House of Assembly and State House of Assemblies you should blame, they made the laws, so you better blame yourself, not the men at Aso Rock.

Truth is:

If Ojuku had even half the intelligence of Prof Osinbajo, he wouldn’t have wasted the lives of so many biafrans. Perhaps he would have turned around the war in his favour. But according to behavioural research experts, flat-headedness is not an easy defect to manage.

One thing is immutable: A Brilliant Prof is an asset to any people.

Alas, the biafrans were doomed to be led by incompetent officers in a war they had no hope of winning. Now, Nnamdi has come to swindle the descendants of those defeated biafrans in the same manner and unsurprisingly, they have fallen for the same simplistic propaganda.

Biafrans, when would you guys learn from the mistakes of your forebears? Maybe never?

Are you guys doomed to reenact the dance of ignominy of yesteryear? It appears so.

What about the power to generate and distribute their own electricity by themselves to end this lack of power in Nigeria. This is the most important

Fool, Igbo's are not deceitful and cunning your your professor. Many peeps on this nairaland praising osinbajo are just dull. This was APCs anthem in 2015 before the election. When they won the election, osunbade reversed his statement.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo says the problems facing Nigeria are not about restructuring as being suggested in many quarters.

because 2023 election is on their mind they have started singing the restructuring anthem, and many people are hopelessly buying into it. Is it that you peeps have memory loss or what? I pity for Nigerians sha.

To talk about the problems of Nigeria and what should be is not new, by now everybody knows, what we lack is action. For Osinbajo to start pontificating again about what should be is quite honestly weak and patronizing. He is not in opposition, we dont need a sermon, what he is saying is now new. He is power, if he isnt doing something about it then he should either shut up or resign if he feels his efforts to reform are being frustrated.

Spare us the patronizing lectures, Nigerians are suffering enough without a lecture on what should be from people with the power to make the change.

This thing is not rocket science but nobody is interested in pointless intellectual journeys, we want action!!

Osinbajo is saying if he was to be the president this is what he will do.

With Osinbajo lecture delivered at Island club Lagos, I believe Nigerians have seen and heard it all the reason why so called cabals and enemies of this country are casting aspersions, hate speech, maliciously cooking up fake news in order to put sand in VP's rice so that his good intentions and that of the federal government in strengthening and liberating states government, bringing poor Nigerians out of poverty will not be possible. My prayer is this, may the eyes of understanding of Nigerians be opened to be able to see what good things this present government is having in stock for them so that no one will be able to truncate it
