Achebe is not a failure. He was a great writer and one of the best Africa has produced. But formal awards are the official hallmarks of achievements in life. Wole Soyinka therefore will always be ranked above Achebe for having won the Nobel prize for literature. It is a measure of the self-destructive inferiority complex of Igbos, manifesting in the silly dick comparison exercise they carry out daily online against Yorubas, that they have to drag the name of Achebe in the mud like this, by claiming he is greater than Soyinka, to the extent Yorubas may be inadvertently mean reminding them that formal awards rank superior in the annals of history above opinionated accolades.

Igbos, by their own unbridled hubris, only succeed at making a fool of their own great men.
