Hands down.... the father of gospel music.... the greatest hands down...Andre Crouch.... sold outs world wide... live appearances...in concerts or on TV shows... always turn into church....truly blessed... because how can a man make soooo many very popular inspiring songs... be soo 'wicked" on the piano.... but can't read or write music?? His whole life was spreading the gospel through music.... and when he died.... sooo many very popular gospel artistes were barely allowed to get in the church let alone front row....but they were allll there.

most so gospel called gospel artistes, don't sing Gospel music, especially the Nigerian ones. na praise n worship them dey sing... praise n worship is not the same with Gospel songs.. Gospel song is suppose to be about the Gospel of Christ, (The love that God have for sinners, that sent His only son to die for them, the wages of sin if sinners don't repent and the redemption power of Christ...) Am yet to see any Gospel Nigerian artiste preach that in their songs. all they do is call God names that one can't even pronounce and names that he doesn't bare... my favourite Gospel artiste isn't a Nigerian and he's a rapper..Lecrae... if you have listened to his songs before, you will be able to relate to what's saying.. like he's talking about you... the struggle with sin and how he over came it... the story of redemption from sin, that's real Gospel music.. not some praise n worship. r.Kelly sang Gospel music Even better than Gospel artists themselves...
