Hello all. I want to share my experience writing IELTS in Amsterdam. I scored L. 8, S. 8, W.8, R.7.5. I didn't prepare at all for the exam because I got a good job here and had decided not to pursue Canada. I tried to get a refund from British Council but they don't refund you unless you're sick or someone died. So, I dragged myself to the centre; make my hard earned €231 no waste.

For Listening, be super attentive. Answer the questions as you hear the convo. Also, get ready to hear all the Western Anglophone accents -- British (I got Northern and Southern English, no posh Eliza accent), Australian and American. I struggled with the Australian accent and it was the section with a map reading. I was like hey gawd!

The writing section is about wide use of words and proper writing styles. Pay attention to the word count and make sure not to write less than the stipulated word count. Think WAEC.

The reading was boring -- something about fish or some other animal. I suffered through by skimming and scanning. You need to be more patient and attentive than I am. The answers are hidden, sometimes you have to infer.

The speaking was okay. It was a nice English man. The time keeping initially threw me and I mumbled my first sentences and stumbled over pronouncing "narcissist". Chai! After that I took a deep breath and thought of him as another nosy stranger having a convo with me in my native language. It became easier. Just keep talking until the time beeps STOP.

That was it, guys. I'm grateful for the result, even though I don't know if I will ever use it. Might jump in the pool to taste the waters. Who knows tomorrow?

I have gotten the whole shocking info concerning embarking on fleet Management course in Nigeria as a prove of two or more certificate. Thanks my gurus in the House who advice me not to waste my money. The info I got read thus:

When evaluating higher education credentials from the United States, for example, WES uses regional accreditation bodies to determine institutional recognition status. If a university or program is accredited by one of the United States’ six regional accrediting organizations, WES can also evaluate the degree as accredited.

When determining how to evaluate a credential, experienced area specialists from WES perform a holistic review of all information available. To decide whether or not WES can evaluate a credential, specialists must first determine whether or not there is a comparable program in the country of equivalency (the U.S. or Canada), so they can perform an accurate evaluation and comparison between education systems.

For example, regionally-accredited recognized institutions in North America do not offer formal academic programs in indigenous medical systems. This means that WES does not evaluate study in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, or other similar programs because there is no comparable equivalency in the U.S. or Canada.

Area specialists also research whether or not the program is academic or career-oriented in nature. Because WES only evaluates academic degrees, WES does not evaluate the United States Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) credential, short-term certificates, job training, trade qualifications, career development programs, or other certificates of this nature, as they constitute occupational, rather than academic study.

WES also reserves the right to not evaluate documents from certain institutions.

Good morning sir/ma.

I checked immigration website and I saw 15k for 32-page passport. I went to one of the passport offices but the officer I met at the gate prevented me from entering because I couldn't provide a particular officer's name I want to see. He totally declined and prevented me from getting in make proper enquiry from the appropriate channel.

He started pouring out info and all. I suspected he wants me to come in through him.

In his words, if I want a 32-page in 1day, it will cost 40k. If I want it in 1-2weeks, it will cost 35k.

I only sensed there is someone he is hiding probably for his personal gain.

So may I know the amount you are charged (for fresh application of 32-page passport) and which of their offices you visited?

Thank you.
It will be of great importance to mention the location of immigration office you visited for more clear advice by gurus in the House. Thanks

Thanks

As long as you can get a reference letter in CIC format from them and can provide proof of payment (if needed), you're good to go.

You have to go to their office. Next appointment I was told was Jan 9.

They responded to my mail and asked me to fill in some details including my preferred date. They stated that the next earliest date is January 14. Can I go ahead and make payments? Or do I need to get a confirmation from them?

Hello beautiful people,

Happy holidays. Myself and my wife are planning to commence or Canada immigration come 2020 and I would like to know what our chances are like.

Me: 30 years (31st birthday in June 2020), 5 years work experience. M.sc

My wife: 28 (29th birthday in may 2020) 3 years experience as a freelance researcher/writer, completing PhD by July 2020.

Other useful tips will be appreciated as well. Thanks

She will have a higher CRS score by 10 points assuming same IELTS score for both of you as a result of her age.

If you don't have ITA by the time she finishes her PhD, then that's extra 14 points for her, up to 498 assuming max IELTS for both of you. This will cost CAD100 if she has completed WES evaluation for her MSc by then!

Do your research, gather your monies, and your documents and you might be in Canada by January 2021!!!

Hey guys, so I just checked my IELTS results now

With this scores our CRS scores is 457 if my LLB and Law School certificate is evaluated as 2 or more degrees and

464 if it’s evaluated as a professional degree. Still waiting for my transcript to be sent to ICES for evaluation.

I am considering the option of TEF to boost our scores. I need recommendations on great French schools in Lagos. Also how many points will French add to our CRS. Should I just write IELTS again? Thank you guys

If you are considering French, try Alliance Francaise in Ikeja or Ikoyi. The Nairaland TEF thread is also an excellent resource for tutors, tips and lots more.

https://www.nairaland.com/4672912/all-tef-candidates-canada-immigration#70227147

Points per CLB and how test scores translate to CLB..... here

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/standard-requirements/language-requirements/test-equivalency-charts.html

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html

CLB 5 OR 6 - 1 point each
CLB 7 OR 8 - 3 points each
CLB 9 and above 6 points each

Extra 30 points for CLB 7 and above

You can get max of 54 points from TEF....but most students aim for 42 i.e. CLB7 in the 4 papers plus the 30 bonus points.

Bonne chance !

Hello Brethren,

I wasn't even worried about the writing i only had issues with speaking because i got nervous during the test and my mind went blank like twice. Should i apply for a remark? It was computer based. Hello folks,
Happy yuletide to us all.
I am about to start this EE journey and I just created my WES account. I want to do same for my wife but I am confused as to if I should use her maiden name or my surname. We got married in September but all her previous credentials are in her maiden name.
Please I will also like advice on what should happen on the maiden name/husband's name matter as regards international passport, IELTS and the other stuffs.

She can use her marital name for the WES and other documents (int'l passport, IELTS) then she does affidavit, change of name in newspaper publication and marriage certificate.

Thanks for the quick response. Will the affidavit and newspaper cutting be submitted to WES too as accompanying documents since the names on her credentials will be different. Thank you once again.

It seems like your school is really complicated.. saw other comments where other people are complaining (One person said that his application was over 2 yrs ago yet no headway.)

Hello house,

While waiting for the response from my previous question, I wanted to ask about NYSC. I did not have to list it as part of my work experience since I have more than 5 years work experience post NYSC. However, I want to know if I should list this in my personal history? If yes, what type of activity should it be listed as?

Currently, I have recorded my NYSC period as unemployed because I am not sure I will be able to get a reference letter from my PPA. Is this ok?

Thanks

Yes. Just get a confirmation letter from your financial institution saying funds can be liquidated at will.
