Out of the 4 civilians, 2 worked for Barclays bank, 1 was a prison warder, while another was a police inspector.

According to a sourced journal, Both men were shot separately with a three-minute interval. They had been tied to two pillars in front of 24 sand-filled oil drums.

The new Nigerian Army Chief of Staff at the time was, Brigadier Hassan Katsina and he disclosed that the executions were intended to serve as a deterrent to troops.

The Nigerian military era was a no-nonsense and unforgiven one...Public execution by firing was a norm..though a very gruesome and terrible sight to behold but then u were forced to sit up , do ur job and serve the public...sometimes I wish it is still done today, Nigeria would perhaps be a better place for you and I. Every politician, public administrator or government official would 've been upright.
