Re: Appeal Court Nullifies Gov. Uduaghan's Election by mbulela: 9:06pm On Nov 09, 2010
Justice delayed is bloody denied.
this is insane. five months to a new election, we have lived through 3.5 yrs of illegality.
The Judiciary is high on something cheap.
At this rate, the Judiciary not even corrupt politicians will wreck this our nascent democracy.
There is just no way we can defend this atrocity.
Our judiciary needs a total overhaul. There must be clarifications in the electoral act that ensure that electoral appeals at all levels MUST end within 60 days after the election.
No ifs, no buts, no exceptions.
If we need to increase the number of judges of the appellate courts, bloody well do it.
put an end to all these silly 2 months adjournment and increase the number of courts.
I think it is about time we set our sights voices and keyboards on this lousy judiciary of ours without taking our eyes off the political elite.
This lousy judiciary must be put in check.

The beginning of the journey that led to todays epic legal ruling:

Great Ogboru Declares for AD , eyes Ibori's Seat

Lagos — As the race for the 2003 gubernatorial elections hot up, the battle between the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to extend beyond the South-West to the Niger-Delta.

Business mogul and the hero of the 1990 Orkar Coup, Chief Great Ogboru, has concluded plans to contest the Delta State gubernatorial race on the platform of the AD.

Re: Appeal Court Nullifies Gov. Uduaghan's Election by superboi(m): 9:34pm On Nov 09, 2010
nsiman it is not an offence. i think the people that should be punished for this crime is the electoral body staff whose shortcoming or inresposibility has led to this.

So in the case that Uduaghan wins again, would INEC still conduct elections again as part of its earlier stance with regards to other states that previously had their elections annulled and the incumbents re-elected?

ACN – Omo-Agege

A governorship aspirant in Delta State, Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, yesterday, registered with the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, after decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, last Monday.

Speaking during the formal registration ceremony in his home town, Orhomuru-Orogun, Omo-Agege said like the Christian soldiers, he and his supporters  were on the march from political Egypt to the promise land.

He said: “Today, we depart Egypt as the umbrella is torn asunder by strife, conflict, confusion, and disunity. Today, we march onward to victory into the land of the progressives with internal democracy, rule of law and cohesion as the watchwords of the new platform-Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

“We hearken to the voice of our people that never again shall a cabal seize the destiny of the state and hold it thralldom. We sweep away bad government, corruption, oppression, suffering, incompetence, chicanery and god-fatherism.

“There is no doubt that over the years, going through the painful twist and turns of history, Deltans have become overwhelmed by the burden of disillusionment.”

But we are an ever optimistic people who believe that the sun of greatness shall shine on Delta State.
“This optimism has kept the hope and aspiration of our people alive. Today, our dear people have joined forces with the progressives marching to victory through Lagos, Ekiti and Edo with big contest for Delta State in view.”

Omo-Agege is not the type we need. Reminds me of Ibori.

chyz1:

So good people who do you think will be the new Delta State gov. in 2011?

I think it will now go to Professor Saliba Mukoro (Isoko). The guy is very highly rated.

In as much as Uduaghan did not perform so well, the politics of intimidation and unconventional means is being played here ahead of PDP Presidential primaries.Edwin Clarke keeps having his way and people keep following sheepishly.
Re: Appeal Court Nullifies Gov. Uduaghan's Election by Nobody: 9:55pm On Nov 09, 2010
There is nothing to celebrate here

Me thinks Edwin Clarke is trying to highjack Delta State in the run up to 2011 elections because they are not sure of Uduaghan's loyalty to Jonathan.
Re: Appeal Court Nullifies Gov. Uduaghan's Election by chyz1: 10:07pm On Nov 09, 2010
Justice has not prevailed. Why was he allowed to stay so long. Obviously he was not sacked because of injustice. It seems that someone of influence and power had a hand in this. I'm thinking Edwin clarke. It seems as if he his trying to put all of the Niger Delta under his or his people's control. GEJ,although im a supporter of him, seems to just be an ambition booster to Clarke. He is trying to install Sekibo as Rivers gov., Bayelsa is what it is, now Delta. We must keep our eyes open.
Re: Appeal Court Nullifies Gov. Uduaghan's Election by monkeyleg: 10:08pm On Nov 09, 2010
@krendo

I beg leave that one. Everyone in Delta know that we did not have an election. Ibori forced is incredibly ugly and wicked brother on us. To hell with him, EFCC now have an excellent opportunity to nad him and jail him for grand theft.
