The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its proposed strike over Federal Government’s directive to enroll its members into the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System (IPPIS). In a phone interview Thursday, ASUU President Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi told News Agency of Nigeria that the union had decided to maintain status quo, pending further meetings.

FIRST REPORTS reports that the IPPIS policy, according to ASUU, violates university autonomy and Federal Government/ASUU agreement and does not tackle the peculiarity inherent in the nature and structure of universities.
