This is a ploy to emotionally blackmail Buhari. Only if he knew the He-Goat in power doesn't succumb to cheap emotional blackmails.

This is coming from a female folk! Your mother did a great job raising you to be what you are now.

What are they giving us in return?
A country is like a corporation, it's not a charity organisation, what is Ghana giving us in return... International politics is all about securing the interest of your people. Nigerian government should make profit for millions of Nigerians struggling, not for Ghana.

Continue to flex your muscles. Ghanas per capita income has already surpassed Nigeria. This is a country they rushed to for jobs. Over the next 4years Ghana per capita will increase much faster than Nigeria's due to the lamentable 2.5%rate of growth under Buhari compared to the 8% in Ghana.

The senseless border closure does more harm than good. Businessmen in Ghana will consider the Nigeria a big investment and trade risk and will start searching other markets frantically so as not to be caught unawares again

Our market is our muscle, we have to use it for Nigerians, not Ghana or any other nation...even the free trade agreement seek to protect nations from 'dumping' and smuggling, every nation has its laws as per trade, tariffs, embargoes etc...this must be respected by other nations they have bilateral agreements with.
They can't force us to work on their terms, they need to bring something to the table. That's what the whole world is doing, America, UK, even Ghana, why do they expect us to be different?

Nigeria has been too nice, for too long, it is affecting our economy and people.

Thank you o jare. How can any sane human being even think that Ghana’s economic fortune depends on trade with Nigeria? By the way, how much trade exists between the two countries? Very small. Even if 1000 trucks from Ghana enter Nigeria every day, that will not change Ghana’s economy. Ghana’s economy is too big to survive on 1000 trucks per day.

Ghana is simply seeking to enforce the ecowas protocols, which Nigeria has blatantly flouted.

we shouldn't just be praising buhari for this, the federal government has made it point, it's time to listen to the genuine complains of our nieghbouring countries, let's not decieve ourselves that we don't need them,if n when they choose to gang up against us the results will not be too pleasant.
They have benefitted for years, let them gang up, we are game. Calculate all their population compared to that of Nigeria and you'll realize the West African market is here.

So much noise over nothing. What dumping? What goods are being dumped? The word dumping is a protectionist excuse to import goods. Yet the protectionist wants to exports goods globally. What if the importing nations shout dumping, what do you do?

Nigeria had better wakeup to painful economic reality. Buhari's nonexistent understanding of economics has sunk this economy aground. The country lacks comparative advantage in rice production. That is why we have been a massive net importer of rice. It is cheaper to import rice than to produce it locally. The country does not have a problem with producing rice. It just lacks comparative advantage in its production. Economists say you're better off buying the things you lack comparative advantage in.

I don't see how Nigerians paying 18,000 for a commodity that should be retailing for 10,000 a bag helps them. How is the poor man benefiting? How does it improve food security in the country or for the poor man?

Hello,

Please stop all these attacks. Nigeria and Ghana are not in any competition. We closed our borders, if Ghana feels so irritated she can close hers too.

And stop all this talk about GDP per capita. Real economic might is not measured on per capita basis. Countries like Luxembourg and Switzerland have far bigger per capita GDP than the U.S. and China, does that mean that they can be compared?

Luxembourg's GDP per capita is like ten times that of China. Just so that you may get a better perspective of this issue.

Nigeria and Ghana are NEVER on the same level. Your patriotism is commendable but let's wake up to reality.

The problems Nigeria has with poverty and inadequate infrastructure are corollaries of over-population and improper planning. China and India battled with it and are gradually getting the better part of it. Nigeria too will.

I hope you know Nigeria still produces more electricity than Ghana. In fact, we have for a long time been a major supplier of gas to your power stations, which you still owe Nigeria for.

We shouldn't drag this for too long. The economy of Ghana is just comparable to that of Lagos state in Nigeria.

I know Nigeria has to do much more in the area of transparency, infrastructure and security, but please Ghana is not in our purview at all!

Your army is just the size of a lean division and there is no single main battle tank in its rank; your airforce has no single frontline fighter jet; your navy is armed with only small patrol boats and fast attack crafts, no frigates and corvettes.

Nigeria's revenue is in the region of $55bn, while yours is about $9bn. We have so much respect for Ghana, but I think your country is fast pulling more than it can carry. Your guys are in Nigeria doing their business without any form of restriction, but you people do not take a break from harassing our people in Ghana. Mr Datsomer Makafui was my teacher in the primary school. He, his parents and siblings lived in our community, enjoyed the privileges and NOBODY harassed them. In fact, his dad worked in the sugar factory on the estate. We do not have issues with Ghanaians, your people are the ones being so feisty.

You state the difference between Nigeria's per capita income and that of Ghana is negligible? That should make you weep. These were guys who flocked to Nigeria doing odd jobs. Nigeria was their Eldorado! In my primary school in Ikeja, all my teachers were Ghanaians. I remember Ghana must go. Today, they've caught up with us in terms of per capita income. Who did Nigeria offend?

Nigeria's economic clout is primarily due to its population size. The country's per capita income is nothing to write home about. Switzerland, a country of about 8m people has a GDP bigger than Nigeria. Netherlands with 17m people has a GDP bigger than Nigeria.

Nigeria and South Africa are living off old glory. Nigeria's economy has been in reversal ever since Buhari assumed power. As of 2013, the per capita income was $3,000.

By the way, I am not Ghanaian. I am a full blooded Yoruba guy. The truth must be told

Abegi. You Nigerians talk as if you own the world. I pity you people. You hav3 not learnt any lesson all these years and you still talk as if nigeria is this nigeria is that. You need to look around and see that your Nigeria is actually not as important as you think oooh. It is the truth. Nigeria’s population is 201 million, while Ghana’s population is about 28 million. Definitely, the size of their economies cannot be the same. But what and your fellow nigerians fail to understand is that Ghana is doing very economically, which is my primary concern.

So long as th3 economy is doing well, that is fine. You that claim your economy is big grin what benefit is that bigness giving to your people? Are you reducing poverty? creating jobs, building infrastructure (not stomach infrastructure ooh). Are more children going to school. Do you know more than 10 million nigerian children don’t go to school? Fuckeduppedness Ghana owes you? How much? I hope you are not talking the gas issue? grin it it is, then you are current at all.
