UPDATE: LAGOS WOMEN RUN: LASTMA ISSUES TRAVEL ADVISORY TO MOTORISTS.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (@followlastma) has notified motorists that due to the “Lagos Women Run” marathon event scheduled to hold on Saturday, 9th November, 2019, between 6.00 am and 10.00am, the Onikan roundabout inwards Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and other roads leading to the entrance of TBS, as well as the entire stretch of Broad Street into Eko Bridge inwards Surulere, will be closed to traffic for the duration of the race.

A statement from LASTMA noted that participants will take off from Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island, proceed through the entire stretch of Broad Street and link Eko Bridge through Apongbon.

The release added that the runners will descend from Eko Bridge into Alaka on the service lane before finishing at the main bowl of Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.

Disclosing that no vehicles will be allowed to ply any street that intersects Broad Street, just as all movements shall be prohibited from Iponri towards Alaka during the marathon.

LASTMA informed motorists that normal traffic flow will be maintained for vehicles driving from Lagos Mainland into Lagos Island.

The statement, therefore, advised motorists going to Surlere from Victoria Island to drive through Onikan to Awolowo Road and connect Obalende Bridge, Carter Bridge, Iddo, Oyingbo, Old Apapa Road to Costain, Abebe Village Road, Eric Moore, Adeniran Ogunsanya to link Surulere.

It implored motorists plying Marina Bridge and wishing to connect Surulere or Lagos Mainland to descend Marina Bridge by the Cathedral Church or UBA Building into Inner Marina, connect Outer Marina and ascend Obalende Bridge to connect Carter Bridge or Third Mainland Bridge.

Motorists driving from Ijora towards Ojuelegba or beyond are advised to connect Iganmu, Eric Moore, Bode Thomas, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Shitta, Akerele, Ogunlana Drive for access to their final destination, or alternatively, they could go through Costain, Abebe Village Road, Eric Moore, Bode Thomas to reach their intended locations.

The statement also appealed to motorists heading from Ikoyi towards Surulere to make use of the Third Mainland Bridge to connect Adekunle, Herbert Macaulay, Jibowu and Empire Road for access to Ojuelegba, or wade through Carter Bridge, Iddo, Oyingbo, Old Apapa Road, Costain, Abebe Village Road and Eric Moore to proceed further.

While regretting any inconveniences the temporary diversion of routes might cause, it enjoined road users and the general public to cooperate with traffic officers strategically positioned at intersections and traffic hotspots along the alternative routes.

Naptu, is it open tournament or invite?

Open tour should not go that entire stretch or we could end with many casualties, God forbid! I will be rooting for them irrespective of what this tour is.

What's the aim?

If it's for awareness, there are several alternatives.... Media

If it's for wellness, gym dey...

They should consider the stress the traffic has put lots of people in this town...
