The Queen qof England led royal well-wishes as her oldest son, Prince Charles celebrates his 71st birthday today.

Her Majesty’s official Royal Family Instagram account shared a sweet throwback photo of Prince Charles, alongside a simple message reading: ‘Wishing the Prince of Wales a very happy birthday! #HappyBirthdayHRH @clarencehouse.’

Prince Harry, Prince William and Prince Andrew shared their own favourite family snaps on Instagram to mark the occasion.

Prince Charles is celebrating his birthday in Mumbai as he is on a royal tour of India.

The prince was given a birthday cake by a group of local schoolchildren whose education is funded by his charitable foundation, the British Asian Trust.

The Queen’s black and white photo, taken when Charles was only a baby, shows the Prince being held up by a proud Duke of Edinburgh as the Queen looks on in the background.
