The treble leaves the Portuguese superstar just two goals shy of a century at international level.

Ronaldo's ninth Portugal hat-trick - with seven of those coming since his 30th birthday - takes him to within 11 goals of Iran legend Ali Daei's world-record of 109.

Since making his debut for Seleção, the 34-year-old has 98 goals in 163 games, with 60 of those goals coming in qualifying matches, 17 in friendlies, 9 at European Championships, 7 at World Cups, 2 in the FIFA Confederations Cup, and 3 in the UEFA Nations League.

This is his joint most goals in a calendar year for Portugal, with 13 - coming in his past seven caps - matching his 2016 total.
