The Final Legacy of Obafemi Awolowo


Nigeria had launched a blockade on Biafra and Chief Obafemi Awolowo declared "All is fair in war, and starvation is one of the weapons of war. I don't see why we should feed our enemies fat in order for them to fight us harder" (Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Financial Times London, 6/26/1969; Daily Telegraph, 6/27/69). Awolowo was the Vice Chairman of the Federal Military Executive Council of the Nigerian state when he made this statement.

Obafemi Awolowo fanatically championed Nigeria's notorious[b] "Starvation as a legitimate weapon/quick kill" war strategy on Biafra, which resulted in a huge percent of the total Biafran casualty, especially the death of children in their millions.[/b]

Obafemi Awolowo's legacy remains one of those top Nigerian government officials (following in the footstep of Nazi Adolf Hitler), which stated categorically as official Nigeria government policy that starvation is a legitimate instrument of warfare. Nigeria committed the worst genocide since World War II, second only to the Jewish holocaust in its brutality, horror, inhumanity, and brazen barbarism.

It was the "post-war" policies of Awolowo that inflicted the most lasting pain during the time, on those who managed to survive his starvation policy. After Nigeria's genocidal war on Biafra supposed to have ended,the Biafran currency, which was the only legal tender of the survivors of the Biafran siege, was overnight declared worthless  Obafemi Awolowo [Commissioner of Finance], instituted a Nigerian Government policy that confiscated Biafran accounts and gave the Biafrans 20 pounds in exchange for whatever money they had (regardless of balance plus interest) to start life anew on their own. This was deliberate financial/economic strangulation.

The "Indigenisation Decree" which followed soon after the arbitrary award of 20 Pounds  completed the routing of Igbo/Biafrans from the commanding heights of the Nigerian economy.In that indigenization process, penury did not allow Igbo (and other occupied Biafrans) to participate as the collective wealth of Nigeria was handed out only to those who had the cash in hand.Only two years after the war supposed to have ended, when Igbo (Biafrans) were still in their economic doldrums, Chief Obafemi Awolowo contrived to auction off the Nigerian economy to the "indigenes" via the Enterprises Promotion Decree 1974, so-called.

The timing of the policy ensured the effective exclusion of Igbo (Biafrans) from ownership in Nigeria's industrial sector, as they lacked the financial muscle to participate. As "the vanquished" were dispossessed of what they had, "the victors" were deliberately empowered through the banks to purchase the Nigerian "national"[illusion ary that is] patrimony. It could be said that Chief Awolowo was not only a proven bedfellow of the Nigerian military establishment, but he also sanctioned the tacit gang-up by the North and West to use authoritarian military rule to keep the occupied Biafrans marginalized for the next decades.

Worse, to add insult to injury on Biafrans, Awolowo's portrait is on the Nigerian Naira, and the people of former Eastern Region of Nigeria, especially the Igbo (Biafrans) were supposed to celebrate Awolowo as a National hero. Whose Nation? Awolowo is MONUMENTAL for Economic/Financial strangualtion of Igbo (Biafrans), yet he is celebrated on the Nigerian Naira. Why not put him on the 20 Naira note?

Even with awolowos evil policy we still defeated the nigerian army. That proves that his whole goal was to kill of the Igbos as a people and get rid of the competition the Igbos gave his people so that they could be relevant in nigeria. He's an evil bastard and i hope his bones decompose faster than ever recorded on earth. Yorubas(who were the weakest in the army) speak the most shyt but notice how the Hausa and other northerners, and southerners never speak about the astrocities they commited because they know it was wrong.

The success or failure of Biafra has nothing to do with pride. TREACHERY played a leading role, like the one your devil ancestor Awo played. Ojukwu was young and naive and called him papa.

We've had 40 years to learn Nigeria and suffice it to say that Biafra's success will happen irrespective of what the rest of Nigeria wants.
