Curiosity will arouse the imaginative tendencies in you as a writer . You do what many people will not do just to satisfy your curiosity as a writer . Of course you know why; that story might be good for the development of a plot next time . As a writer you don't advise anyone not to commit a crime,you should be interested in the outcome of the crime ,the processes . Look!
