Been out of office work going to 3 years now. I work from home and of recent I haven't being getting offers as before so I see a need to enhance my skills by getting a training on a fast selling online skills. Adding it to my current skill and experience will boost my sales. Also, one of my clients posted an ad looking for someone with that skill I want to learn, so in a way I'm looking at asking for a pay rise in addition to a new role or increased responsibility. So it's a win win for me if I go for the training.

So I finally got a place and the training cost is 200k, I have the fund and am really to enroll immediately so I discussed with my hubby and he suggested doing an online training on Udemy or cousera. He said courses are free on there but checking out they not free. I may have to spend up to $130 for the course.

Yes, comparing the cost of $130 to 200k it's still quiet low but am I sure I'd get value for my $130 on udemy? My concern is value not money. He's being stressing on the need for me to get a training now am ready and he's trying to frustrate me by asking me to do an online training. I stay at home to work and why will I do an online training when I can go out there and mix with others?

Physical class training is better. it gives room to socialise, share knowledge, acquire good norms, it enhance your interpersonal skills, expose you to a lot of opportunities

Online will be best if it's an interactive one.
But the issue is will you concentrate since you will be doing it from home?

Secondly prolly your husband doesn't want you to meet other men that will want to spoil his marriage for him.

I don't know your location but these days the Lagos traffic stress alone can make you forget anything you were taught in the physical class and it will also consume productive time commuting to the venue.

If you’re not or cannot be physical available, online is your option.

But sometimes we take physical training more seriously than online.

Both can be effective.

Online training requires an extra amount of discipline and dedication, especially when you're learning for free.

It's easy to give an online class low priority in your day because you feel you can do it at any time.

You just need to discipline yourself and always look at the bigger picture.

It all depends on how much time you have. Physical if you have much time to spare, but online if you have limited time ( but you must read o)

Nothing beats a physical/one on one training

will the training involve practical, if yes opt for physical. no, then why not go for online

I think it majorly depends on the type of skill you intend to learn and your focus/concentration.
Each one has its pros and cons.

There's nothing like physical class. Trust me.

Not only will you meet up with other students, you'll get to ask questions the way you will understand a particular concept in the learning process.

For online, you could get bored easily even with the amount paid. Not like physical for sure.

And also, add the online course too. But let your first choice be physical. May I add that you'll learn faster in physical? Yes you will. That's why people still have to go on to get mentors learning these soft skills.


And OP, mention the skill na. Nobody go beat you. And you might be helping some here making a decision as to taking same career path with you.

Don't take it the wrong way.

Udemy has helped thousands of people all over the world to acquire real programming skills.

The difference of over 130k in tuition is also massive.

If you need friends to chat with, go online, or join a gym, but I would recommend you do the online course especially if you are interested in studying an I.T. related course.

Bottom line is whatever works best for you, do it. People are a distraction to me in a class, while you seem to cherish communication in a classroom environment.

Online if you can be disciplined about it.
Offline should get you started and give you directions no matter how much you pay, you can not even learn half of it from your tutor.
He has to follow a curriculum. So you continue learning online where you stop offline each day.

Once you find the right directions there is no limits to what you can learn online as opposed to where the 200k training will stop.
