Data obtained from the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency on Tuesday showed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was subsidising the cost of Premium Motor Spirit consumed across the country by N19.37 per litre.

NNPC, on several occasions, had stated that Nigeria consumes between 55 million to 60 million litres of PMS, popularly known as petrol, daily.

In its July 2019 financial and operations report, for instance, the corporation said a total of 55.74 million litres of petrol was consumed across the country on a daily basis.

Going by a daily consumption of 55 million litres and the N19.37 subsidy which the corporation currently incurs on every litre of PMS consumed in Nigeria, the national oil firm is spending about N1.1bn daily on subsidy.

Further findings from the PPPRA on Tuesday showed that the landing cost of petrol as of November 18, 2019 was N144.7/litre, while the distribution margin was put at N19.37/litre.

A summation of the landing cost and the distribution margin gives the total and actual cost of the commodity, which was put at N164.07/litre.

The commodity is, however, sold at a regulated price of N145/litres at filling stations across the country.

In another development, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, and the Managing Director, ExxonMobil Nigeria, Paul McGrath, met in Abuja on Tuesday to discuss the activities of ExxonMobil in Nigeria.

At the meeting, Sylva told the ExxonMobil team that attracting more investors into the oil sector would not be done at the expense of the long-term relationship with existing investors.

One morning just like the border closure we go wake up see pump price at N175 per litre and people will still come and justify why/how that will make Nigeria grow. grin

you know the drill.
but these people said that the daily PMS consumption have dropped due to the border closure and so it's expected that the daily subsidy payments should drop but it seems that the reverse is the case.

During gej regime which was tagged the most corrupt in all indices by western media, fuel consumption daily was 30million litres.
But the so called man of integrity has put his daily consumption to 60million litres.
Infact nigeria is confusing....
The more things change the more they remain the same if not worse.

Still from the same people that protested against Jonathan's administration by saying that fuel subsidy is criminal when they were spectators, now they've entered the field and suddenly became foolish.

Everything under this administration is SCAM, lies, deceit and hypocritical.

The official removal of fuel subsidy which led to the increment of fuel pump price from N87 to N145

Then the continuity in paying the SAME SUBSIDY is a testament that Buhari is fantastically corrupt!!!

Argue with facts!!!

Modified:

obailala:
Subsidy was removed when landing cost was N145. But now the landing cost is N145+N19.37 (due to marginal increase in oil price) but you still pay the same N145 per litre; how?
Was landing cost not there when it was sold for N87

Shuooooooo

Why didn't Buhari talk about this landing cost during GEJ regime because he was strongly opposing it due to the untold hardship it will bring to the citizens then

So what has changed What manner of hypocrisy is this
