Obafemi Awolowo made a mortal mistake of assuming he can poke nature and God's children without consequences......and of course he died regretting it.

Very shameful and disgraceful ending.

Awolowo didn't set a nice precedent for the younger generation to follow because following his path will only lead someone to self destruction like awolowo did to himself

Evil doesn't pay

You're not even ashamed. first to comment in hate and bitterness over a thread that should not concern you. You cannot even leave others to celebrate their heroes. Awo is certainly one of the greatest Nigerian to live whatever people like you think of him. Deal with it or choke on your own hate because the celebration of Awolowo's name will go on beyond your existence.

When Awolowo as the premiere of the Western Region was building the first TV station in Africa, first industrial estates, first modern stadium, the first skyscraper in the whole of Nigeria and Africa even before many oyinbo countries, what were your lazy and incompetent village leaders in the eastern region doing?

Zik your premier in the east was so lazy and incompetent that he left ZERO achievements and your kerosene sharing leaders of today are the same.

While both the late Ahmadu Bello and Awolowo qualify as Northern and Yoruba leader respectively, Zik does not really qualify as an Igbo leader. Why?

He saw himself in his own words as a "Beautiful Bride" for the highest bidder as well as indispensable. The former executive president of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, a mild mannered man captured it well when he told Zik during the 1979 election campaign: "when you switch husbands one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight times, you are no longer a beautiful bride but a harlot." Zik was a weather vane-go where the favorable wind blows. A "Beautiful Bride" mindset is exactly the opposite of the leadership mindset. In 1954, the Sutton-Foster Inquiry found Zik's conduct below what was expect

^^^^ After sucking up to the northerners right even before independence and after, zik changed from the "beautiful bride from the east" to an ugly LovePeddler..................from the eastern part of the country.

The only legacy zik left behind was being the 1st southerner to suck up to the northerners as his people are been butchered in the north by the hausa/fulanis. No wonder his burial ground is now practically covered in weed
