Following a bill seeking to regulate social media which has passed second reading at the Senate, Nigerians stormed the National Assembly in Abuja today to protest.

See the photos below.

There is serious misunderstanding about how this bill once passed will function
It isn't to stem dissent but to remove harmful and fake contents from our internet space. lots of clarification has been made to this effect but you guys choose to believe the falsehood from the opposition that it's a ploy to silence those critical of the government
Most countries have one...Y'all will agree that there is need to regulate posting and perusal of contents on the internet

Can't someone just send a missile into the national assembly killing those useless good-for-nothing senators at once, then another into aso rock killing dictator buhari and everyone around him. And one to that annoying BBQ guy and his entire family for supporting this kind of government. God I'll be so happy.

Lol... You want to kill our resident Nairaland BBQ maker? grin

Who will now supply us BBQ if we decide to have a NL party?

Social media bill is the last huddle to cross for Buhari to get his 3rd term.
He has the Judiciary
He has the Senate and HOR

Imagine 26 million Nigerians rounding Aso rock, shouting, "Fulfil your campaign promises or else we will come, there kick you out and start a revolution"

Sense would tell you it is 26 million Nigerians vs about 2 thousand security men guarding Aso rock.

Who would win??

Do you think they will shoot?

It is very easy to transform this country in 6 months only if we all come together in unity and speak with one voice.

We can't vote them to control us, but for they "politicians " to agree to our request

Even Buhari and his Abba. K would shake.

This can never happen because all Buhari needs to do is to speak Hausa and use islam as a tool to tell the northern muslims that it is the southern christians that are the problem of the country trying to frustrate him because he is a muslim.

Watch how all the tens of millions of northern muslims will rise up in his defence in spite of the suffering. Some Yoruba muslims will even join and he immediately gets half of the country's population by his side.

Already, the struggle has been sectionalized!

Nigeria can never have a nationwide revolutionary movement because of our ethnic and religious differences.

It has been in most people's mind but Tribalism you know nah. So I am thinking we need to start coming together as one Nigeria first, then after that we would not just come to that aso village but we will TROOP out and see them watch

They are "unserious" because they decided to enter the hot sun and protest so the rest of the citizens (including you and I) can enjoy the right to express ourselves on Social media.

Nice one..... That was the kind of move I like making. You can't muscle the media cos you think they will be used to criticize you, that is absolute dictatorship and we cannot take it.

i'm familiar with that plight bro and people's fear is justified due to the kind of politics we have but if we always focus on the not so pleasant area which is workable, we'll lose the benefit that can be accruable from the good side
