The apex sociocultural Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, youth wing has said that the governors of the south east and the National Assembly members, as well as political leaders should be blamed for the increasing marginalization, poverty and hunger in the zone.

The National President of the group, youth wing, Mr. Igboayaka, made this known while addressing journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

He stated further that 75% of marginalization and hunger the people of the zone faced were caused by Igbo leaders, who according to him, give little or no attention to the people’s demands.

Igboayaka, however, tasked Igbo leaders to rise up to their responsibilities and take positive measures to ensure that the seaports in Igbo land are opened, adding that such would pave way for more development in the region

“We are being marginalized by our brothers and our sisters, we are being marginalized by those that are representing us at the Senate, House of Reps as well as the governors. They should wake up to their responsibilities. That is why I said that 75% of the marginalization in Igbo land is caused by our leaders, they should sit up.

“There is hunger in the land, they should create the enabling environment for us to survive. If we have a seaport now that is in full operation, you will see that the level of unemployment would be taken care of. Is it Buhari that would talk about seaport for us? No, it is our governors, our senators that should start making it an issue. And you can see the economic value of seaport.

“We say we are being marginalized by the north, look at the population of Ndigbo, do you know that Ndigbo constitutes 42% of the population of this country? And you are saying that you are being marginalized by Fulani that is not up to 7million.

“We have up to 120 million of Ndigbo living in this country. And you are telling me that people that are 7 million are marginalizing us. It is unacceptable, we need to sit up and that is why I’m mobilizing the youths so that we can transform our population into a political capital,” he reiterated.

He stated further that, Igbo presidency will not solve the problems going on in the South East zone; “after all, the South has produced a president for six years, but the problem of an Igbo man is not president, but good representative l. For us to have modern rail way, for us to have industrial gas pipeline .

“These are the problems that when they are solved, we will all benefit from it. So anybody that is saying that the problem of Ndigbo is to produce a president is lying. The problems of Ndigbo are these things that I have touched. We need a seaport and that is fundamental.

”We can have a president for more than 8 years, still we will continue to live in abject poverty. But if we have a good representative, our economy will improve,” he said.

As usual. They will rather blame Mai Ruwa far away in Kano for lack of water supply in Abia , than holding their kerosine governor responsible for lack of Infrastructural development in the their state

Read and develop your brain, everything is not a tribal battle.

He is talking about better representation in attracting infrastructure is more beneficial than SE presidency. Making reference to infrastructure such as seaport and others which in turn creates employment which the opposite is the basic cause of hunger.

It does not kill.
What do I have to read, when he ignores the message but prefers to attack the messanger as aboki agent. Isn't that the similar ways Nnamdi/ diletor goes about holding Hausa/ Fulani responsible for the Infrastructural decay in the east?

What has Nnamdi kanu, hausa/fulani got to do here.

He is talking about attracting infrastructure to the SE in other to reduce unemployment through proper representation amongst the political elites. Unemployment is not just peculiar to the east, its worst in other regions.

Nooooooo. Keep blaming PMB and other Nigerians. South east has the capacity and resources to develop itself but unfortunately just like other regions of Nigeria, they are unfortunate with bad leaders but while other regions try to hold their people accountable, south east does otherwise, they ignore leaders from their region and blame others. South west, north and Edo in south south always vote out party not bringing quality development to them but only south east keeps voting a party not because of quality performance or leadership but political affinity.

But your deluded brethren on nairaland will say that they are the most developed (while only Ibadan is more developed than all the 5 eastern states),most educated( while the SW has more than 5 youngest phd holders in the world,2 nobel laureates and highest number of schools both tertiary and junior etc),the richest(while only Alakija will pocket all their billionaires). The deluded ones will deny your statement even when UNDP confirmed it.

Some undescerning amebos will be wondering why I am writing this, not knowing that these sentences of mine, mostly tend to give back to our SE brethren what they always indulge in against otbers.Table shakers. grin

This is good, if we have the likes of this man then things will change. The south east cannot be used to compare other geopolitical zones because of bad government . We have people who represent us at the Federal level yet what they do is to stay there and enjoy our money while people who are down here work there asses out yet they are still owed. The earlier they sit up the better for everybody.
Re: Blame Our Governors, N’ Assembly Members For Increased Hunger In SE– Ohanaeze by Erikaosondu(f): 12:59pm On Nov 29, 2019
This is awesome, its time for the people who are leading us to wake up and consider the wellbeing of the people who they claim they are serving. If seaports are opened then we are sure that unemployment will drastically reduce, the federal government will do nothing if people who are representing us do not speak out. So I urge our governors, senators, house of rep members from the south east to speak up because we are the ones holding ourselves.

I commend the national youth wing president of ohanaeze ndiigbo for speaking out because we have nothing to right home about. There are no good roads in most of the states and we have people representing us at the Federal level. There are no employments, no functional seaports yet we have ports which have been closed and they are all relaxed as if nothing is wrong. I urge them to do the right thing because people are suffering.

South East governors and it's political representative are truly to be blamed for the poor economic life in the region. Air and seaports are barely functional or comatose, we lack modern rail network for movement of goods and people. These our leaders really needs to step up their political influence

Our problem is that we are being led and represented by people who are selfish, people who care about there pockets and not for the welfare of the people who put them there. Most of them haven't done any meaningful thing in there states yet they blame the presidency for inadequate power supply, go to the northern states and see what they enjoy there but we call them illiterates. so who is now fooling who

The youth leader of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo has just made a very bitter truth of a comment which truly is the state of the south eastern region.

It's obvious our senators and Reps including the various state governors are not perturbed by the poor infrastructure in the region. They are supposed to have initiated a blue print to bring about the opening and functionality of the sea port in the region as well as international airports, railways and the major highways.
