Stop bringing your tribal desperation into every discussion. The first stage is for the Efcc to get the final seizure. The final stage is the religuishing the said property to the state government.

It reminds me of when Ibori bribed Ribadu with $500,000 not to arrest him then. Fed Govt held the money for over 2 yrs before it was finally released to Delta state government's under Uduoghan.

You are as dumb as far as your brain can take you, someone is trying to straighten your line of thinking and u are still exhibiting your high ignorance, is EFCC a state prosecutor or federal? Is it imo state that initiated the case or federal government?
Think before you open your ignorant mouth

That's besides the point! Quit being smart by half!

Any money recovered belongs to the state the ex-governor served, so it stands to reason that, notwithstanding who initiated the case, any money recovered should go back to its origins!

Your line of arguement is like saying if a individual brings a case of corruption against Rochas, that if he wins the case anything recovered should go to him for initiating proceedings!

Let me teach you a trick.

Let Ihedioha institute a judicial commission of inquiry (not administrative) with terms of reference of determining proceeds of corruption. It would be gazetted and the recommendations would be implemented by the state government.

Igbo Governors are not interested in fighting corruption, they are interested in fighting opponents. If they fight corruption, they would also be affected.

Zip it mate! Igbo governors are not any different in the morality stakes than governors from other regions!

Fact of the matter is any money recovered should go back to it origins, anything else you're yapping is besides the point!

This debate started in the time of James Ibori, when the FG seized everything recovered from him instead of giving them to Delta State government.

I thought they had resolved this issue.

The EFCC Act has to be amended because this is wrong; EFCC cannot be seizing recovered state loots because that's another form of corruption.

Thank you bros! smiley

I think its better FG retains all d loots. By that indigenes of respective states will learn to elect credible and incorrigible ppl as leaders and also make sure they got no chance to steal or pilfer

That's fine with me so long as it cuts both ways: if a individual initiates a case of corruption against the federal gov't or federal gov't employee, if he wins, the money should go straight into his bank account......ditto a state gov't initiating a case of corruption against the federal gov't or its employee! If this is the case then i'm all for it! You're talking as if your FG is the sole repository of good-conduct, morality and honesty, while the state gov'ts are the Artful-Dodgers! wink

Nothing links Dew of Hope to Okorocha. Your caption is misleading. It's just like when Diezani's jewelry was discovered and you caption it jewelries linked to Jonathan.

So, you're crying marginalisation in forfeiture of proceeds of corruption?

You're very senseless.

Okorocha forfeits state-of-the art hospital to Federal Government

Okorocha, now the property of the Federal Government
Instead of Reading Naija News i prefer listening to Good Naija Songs Biko ooooo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC secured another victory Friday in its campaign against grand corruption in public service as Justice T.G Ringin of a Federal High Court sitting in Owerri, ordered the final forfeiture of a hospital linked to former governor Rochas Okorocha.

Dews of Hope Hospital, located in the heart of Imo capital of Owerri Dews of Hope Hospital is a N1.5 Billion state-of-the-art 200-bed hospital, whose ownership was denied by a former aide to Okorocha.
The forfeiture came a day after the commission secured the conviction and sentencing of former governor Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia State(1999-2007) for money laundering and corruption.

The Commission had on August 22, 2019 secured the interim forfeiture of the Owerri hospital from a vacation Judge, Justice A. T Mohammed of Federal High Court, Port Harcourt.

The application for interim forfeiture was triggered by evidence that the facility may have been acquired through proceeds of illicit activities, as funds from Government House, Owerri were traced to the hospital.

The Commission’s investigation revealed that Dr. Paschal Obi, former Permanent Secretary and Principal Secretary to then Governor Okorocha, now a serving member of the House of Representatives, was a signatory to the accounts.

However, Obi, like members of the board of the hospital, vehemently denied ownership of the medical facility.
The managing director of the hospital on invitation, could not also explain how the hospital was funded.

These developments led the Commission to file for the forfeiture of the property on July 25, 2019 under Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud, and Other Related Offences Act 2006.

In granting the request for the interim forfeiture of the property, the court ordered the anti-graft agency to publish the Order in a national newspaper, which was accordingly complied with in the Nation Newspaper of August 30, 2019 and Leadership Newspaper of September 3,2019 respectively, asking interested parties to show cause why the property should not be forfeited to the federal government within fourteen days from the dates of the publications.

Upon the expiration of the fourteen day notice and with no one showing interest in the hospital, the Commission filed for the final forfeiture of the facility.

The hospital located at the heart of Owerri metropolis, had an adjourning staff and doctor’s quarters.

Why not Imo government?

He couldn't have stolen FGs money, if he stole at all.

The properties seized from ex state chief executives should have been given to the states from where they most likely get the loot from.
To be looted again?
