An adage says that ignorance is not an excuse. In religion, it is another way of saying that when ‘that time’ comes, people will not be vindicated on the basis of ignorance. If this treatment is meted to those who are at least ignorant about the doctrines of Christianity, how much more those who are in the know? Those who knows the truth and decide to deviate from it. Those who for instance knows that the DSS is wrong in its approach but would decide to bring up baseless posts as an excuse. These are the idiots who are aware about the law and the consequences of such actions of the DSS in a saner climes but would chose to write about the generational offences of Yele Sowore which may not be forgiven because it is a sin against their ‘holy Jones.’
It is very disappointing that while the whole wide world is condemning the actions of the DSS, some enlightened members of this generation who would have been direct beneficiaries of the protest (had Sowore’s protest been successful) could come out to indict Sowore on the social media for unpopular offences such as referring to Jonathan as the worst president in the history of the Country. Even one of my Brothers, (a SAN for that matter o) gave the account of another (eyewitness) lawyer whose post suggested that the drama might have been staged-managed by Sowore himself. So, even if Sowore staged-managed the drama, is it right for the DSS to rearrest him, even after the Court has admitted him on bail and adjourned the hearing? They have shown that some of our SANs are just unqualified and that’s the reason why the Executive will continue to suppress, disrespect and victimize the judiciary.
But to say the truth, what are the changes inherent in that statement? Had Buhari been different or exceptional as a President, would he not have exposed Jonathan as incompetent, inept and corrupt? Are we saying that Buhari’s poor performance automatically bestows the status of a saint on Jonathan? Did Jonathan not soil his hands? Look, President Jonathan still has a lot of questions to answer and like the Yorubas will say, we will all meet in heaven where the God of all creatures will judge everyone according to their deeds. Albeit the gravity of their recklessness isn’t the same, the truth is that President Jonathan is as culpable as President Buhari judging from the way “order from above’ pervaded the atmosphere and was used to perpetrate certain iniquities even through the DSS in the days of Jonathan.
I can say authoritatively that had Jonathan been effective as a President, Buhari would not have smelt the position of power. He wasn’t just the right person but was the best candidate among his peers at that time because Jonathan left us with no choice. None of us expected President Buhari to be the ‘antichrist’ that he has become today, with the exception of a few of you who maybe due to sentiments campaigned and voted against him. But that is not even the bone of contention.
The bone of contention has to do with the misplacement of priorities that characterized that drama which happened yesterday. Regardless of the sentiments you share, it is only animals that would chose to direct their attention into making President Jonathan a hero in the midst of the anarchy that pervaded our space yesterday.
Even President Jonathan would be embarrassed himself because this shameful act has gotten the attention of the world.
So, to say that Sowore is reaping from karma is the most stupid statement I have ever heard this year, the other stupid statement being statements released by the DSS for their failure to release Sowore. The originators of the ‘karma’ argument are worse than the present government and the DSS combined and have shown that they could flaunt or disregard the law had they been in control of the government.
They can be harshly compared with the fools in the bible who find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions. Their end would be calamitous for they have no place in heaven.
