This piece of writing is nonsensical.

How is it Mercedes-powered? Because you want it to be?

Then you mention the AMG V12 Pagani uses? What does that have to do with this?

If the maker truly wanted a performance engine, he'd looking into Chevy's LS series. Small, tunable, cheap. Not a humongous V12 by Mercedes that likely costs over $30k.

Car journalism in Nigeria is a mess.

I will.

Which is pretty idiotic. Do you know how much an AMG engine costs? Getting one from AMG directly costs about $54k.

A used one is $26k.

Also, have you considered how the engine will be mounted? Transversely? What about a transmission that will fit it, while handling all that torque? Have you considered the fact that Mercedes engines aren't open-end and would require input from Daimler itself to be able to work on another car?

Of course not.

"We only want you to know that sourcing for a more powerful engine, just like how Pagani and Aston Martin used Mercedes engine, will make the lovely car one of the best."

Stupidest thing I've read this week, and we're at the end of the week. May as well recommend the guy to use a Ferrari V12.

Give sensible information next time. If you want to be a car journo, at least understand the basics.

See talents that we have in Nigeria. Yet, it's only when they want to argue you will know they are an information power House. This one now will still die with all these info under utilized. Instead of you to reach out to the young man in Jos u are here speaking Grammer and insulting the OP. For ur mind na u get sense pass.

Why the insults?

Try to read and understand...

Nobody is comparing "Benni Purrie" to an established Pagani...

We only want you to know that sourcing for a more powerful engine, just like how Pagani and Aston Martin used Mercedes engine, will make the lovely car one of the best.
The boy has work to do. He carried too much load on his head.
Car can either be engine& performance focused
and Design/body focused.
He didn't pass any of the two exam. The body has some issues and the engine has some issues as well.
If we take the car on all those oyibo stunt runs, powerglides and all that TopGear stuff, the performance will fail as well.

I advice that boy to just focus on one aspect first and get it right.
Do the body of the car very fine first.

...and when white man does his own, he finishes it well.
Anyway, we don't have steel industries so how can one cheaply get the correct steel or materials one needs?
A lot of supporting industries are required to make a successful car.

Rather than setup such industries, we have chosen instead to just import finished cars.
All those trying to make cars in Nigeria from scratch will keep suffering and producing poor results.

That junk you are seeing there, believe me, it's really difficult to manufacture. The steering works, the gear works, the brake works, the junk moves. It is not an easy task oh! It's just sponsor.

This is really pathetic from Nairalanders, I’m extremely disappointed. Why can’t you just appreciate something for crying out loud. The chap is just 25 and he has this vision and even working towards the betterment of it.

C’mon, blacks are the real enemies of blacks.

I've seen many horrible fiberglas jobs over the years.

I owned a South American fiberglas Mini Cooper pick up kit that I spent fortune getting things sorted out.

People would always gather at shows to see it.

Dude is an aspiring Lamborghini but I can’t believe that VW Golf engine there is being called Mercedes.

To establish a production worthy car requires loads of resources: cash, labour, skills, facilities etc Koenisegg is one guy I admire so much for this.

Bernie can do more. It’s not compulsory he starts building his body from scratch, why not tune up and custom build a model?

And pls no one should tell me that body is made of carbon fiber undecided

As neutral person, I do not see any expert-analysis in your condemnation of his use of "Mercedes-powered" engine, rather than some ol' reash of "this is better than that". You recommended an alternative that you called "performance engine" yet the characteristics quoted is "small, tunable and cheap", no mention of its performance characteristics itself.... Not sure if someone looking for performance engines will be cheap-conscious for starters.

Yet you yab car journalism?
