Consensus Candidate: Yuguda Faults Atiku’s Selection ! by wales(m): 8:32am On Nov 29, 2010
The Bauchi State Governor, and North East Zonal Coordinator of
the President Goodluck Jonathan Campaign organisation, Isa Yuguda has dismissed the choice of former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar as North’s consensus candidate saying no group of persons or politicians can impose a candidate, on the entire North.
Yuguda stated this while inaugurating the eight zonal sub-committees of the Jonathan/Sambo ticket preparatory to the crucial forthcoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries, at the weekend.

Jonathan will square it up with the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, the consensues candidate chosen by the Adamu Ciroma-led committee for the North and the ruling party’s ticket to run for the highest office in the country.

But speaking at the Banquet Hall of the Government House while inaugurating the sub-committees as well as the state coordinators in the North east zone, Yuguda said that as far as the north was concerned, Jonathan was the acceptable choice for all Nigerians.

He said: “Politicians should not allowed tribal and religious sentiments to overshadow the politics and the profession, rather we should redefined our passion in the society and have fear of God in everything we do and have faith in him.” Among those present during the inauguration were the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bayero Nafada, Bamanga Tukur, Tijani Kumalia, Jonathan Zwingina, Abba Gana, among other PDP stalwarts.

The Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Zonal Coordinator said his North east committee would work hard to realise the Jonathan/Sambo ticket in 2011 and charged the members and the state coordinators to gear up for the task ahead. He said: “We are in the project for good because we have under taken to do it with honesty, sincerity,” saying that the South south and the North had always

been in mutual relationship and now it is the turn of the North to pay back the South south for its age-long support for the north. Yuguda was optimistic that inspite of the recent development where victories of the PDP elected governors had been upturned by the judiciary in some states, the party would achieve victory in 2011. “The PDP is the party that can bring Nigeria out of poverty, “ he added, noting that politics ought to be viewed as a game of deception and betrayal.

He charged politicians in the country to make politics a noble profession that has value and integrity. Yuguda said politics should be a righteous profession that has a lot of passion in it, since it is the only profession that has to do with the governance and people and brings development and endows the citizenry with excellent standard of living.

Yuguda therefore charged the committee members and the state coordinators to be active while discharging their duties, adding that they should be committed as their input in the presidential campaign was highly important.
