One team that has enjoyed a remarkable rise to the Premier League is Swansea City, who were briefly in 92nd place in the League during the 2002/03 season, yet gained promotion to the EPL in 2011 and have remained there since. But hang on, you might be asking: Swansea? Isn’t that in Wales? Yes, it is.

Due to the comparatively small size of Wales’ own league system, there are a total of six Welsh clubs who have opted (and been accepted) to instead play in the English system. None of them had ever played in the Premier League until Swansea’s promotion, but they were also joined by Cardiff City for the 2013/14 season. Sadly (at least as far as Welsh pride goes), Cardiff were relegated back down again after just one year.

The other British nations, Scotland and Northern Ireland, also have their own leagues. Every so often the topic of whether or not Scotland’s two most successful clubs — Celtic and Rangers — might break ranks and join the English league comes up for debate, but so far it’s never progressed beyond speculation.

With millions of fans and viewers worldwide the England Premier League also known as the EPL is one of soccer’s most interesting leagues in world football.

Let’s go through some quick facts about the English Premier League:

The Premier League is England’s primary football competition and is contested by 20 clubs.

The league was reduced from 22 teams to 20 at the end of the 1994–95 season.

The EPL is the most watched sport league in the world. It broadcasts to a potential TV audience of 4.7 billion people in 180 countries worldwide.

The Premier League was founded in 1992 and every season begins in August and ends in May.

Manchester United FC is the first team to win the England Premiership League title in the 1992/93 season. They are also the first team to win the title 3 times consecutively.

The first Premier League goal was scored by Brian Deane of Sheffield United in a 2–1 win against Manchester United.

45 teams have competed in the Premier League since the inaugural season in 1992–93.

The title has been won by six clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester City.

In the history of the EPL, Blackburn Rovers have been the only Premier League champions to be relegated from the league. In the 1998–99 and 2011–12 seasons.

The first recipient of the Barclay’s golden boot was Teddy Sheringham of Tottenham Hotspur. Hr scored 21 goals in 40 games for the club as well as an additional goal for Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season.

The Premier League Golden also known as the Barclays Golden Boot for sponsorship reasons is awarded to The top goalscorer in the Premier League at the end of each season.

Manchester United have won the most titles. 13 in total.

Manchester United’s Old Trafford has the biggest stadium capacity in the league with capacity for over 70,000 people.

Unlike in most American sports, being in the Premier League is a privilege, not a right. Once a team is there, they don’t automatically stay there—they have to play for their position. Each year, the bottom three sides in the league are relegated to the top division of the Football League, to be replaced by three teams from it. A club’s previous success or overall popularity are no protection against dropping out of the league, and many of the 22 clubs that first founded the division back in 1992 have long since departed it, never to return. Some have even dropped all the way to League Two, although no club that has competed in the Premier League has yet dropped out of the Football League system smiley

Manchester United have won the most games in the EPL. And on head-to-head basis, they are way superior to any other EPL team (chelsea, tottenham, Liverpool, arsenal, everton, aston villa, newcastle) to mention a few. They have also been the biggest brand, making and spending the kind of money that other clubs can only dream of.

They have also been so successful that even after the era of Sir Alex Ferguson, they have won five 5 trophies in 6 years, equal with chelsea and Man City. Which is still far superior to teams like Liverpool (2 in 6 years), Arsenal (2 in 6 years), Tottenham (0 in 6 years), Leicester city (1 in 6 years), e.t.c

The afformemtioned trophies doesn’t include an EPL trophy, but their level of success makes it impossible for any other team to catch up with their EPL achievement despite a 6 year break.

The EPL was not founded in 1992 rather it was renamed such in 1992. Teddy Sheringham is the oldest goal scorer and the oldest hat trick scorer as well.
