And some hardened criminals live in those places and they also collect rent and tax from the other Jew men who own shops there. Drug sales and abuse, teen pregnancy everywhere, innocent children are quickly corrupted and robbed of their childhood, countless sex abuse, the list goes on and on
you are correct, that place is an evil den

We are Nigerias for Christ sake and we should be free to live anywhere in d country in peace and harmony, do u knw hw many yorubas that live in the north, east and south living legally and illegally, trade and better standard of living makes people migrate to different zones for settlement.
If truly their stay there is causing havoc den d government should make an alternative to them.
so because they are Nigerians then they should occupy other’s property illegally right? Baba try to get understanding before commenting

They are different tribes, major: Northerners from Adamawa & Borno and Yorubas. There are good people but the other is high with different kinds of diseases, drugs, hustlers, thief, killers. Let their state governors grant those alternatives. What are they running from in their own states? So Lagos is a rubbish dump where everybody comes to set up dustbins

It's not always about running from their own states, it's has more to do with urban planning. Shanties are natural occurrence of high brow urban areas without adequate planning for low income housing. Low income housing should go hand in hand with high income developments. The high income earners needs and hire low income workers like driver's, maids, gardeners, etc. Where do you want them to stay. High income earners need low income services like mechanics, vulcanisers, electricians and convenience shops, where do you want the owners of these services to stay. To make matters worse, the V/I and lekki areas his now a commercial and business district, no provisions whatsoever is made for low income workers..., and you don't expect Shanties to develop?

Each time a shanty is demolished, another one develops to take its place. That has been the history of Shanties along that V/I - lekki axis. From maroko to bar beach, to other Shanties that had been demolished down the years.
The elites do not want to take eye see poor people, but at the same time need their services.

The problem of Lagos State governments over the years is what I called elitist bias. The need poor people only during elections, once elected, the governor only thinks about the elites and carry out elitist programmes.

You have to understand they are occupying the place illegally and also big men living around feel threaten by their continual stay

this your governor seems elitist... the shanties shop he is destroying he should trade places with them and see for himself... people are trying to survive...

instead of regularising them just as seyi makinde of oyo state is doing...yiu are destroying.

If we have 24/7 electricity, more than half of lagos population would move back to their villages to live.

One nigeria is a mistake and mess.

Hear talk. Ehn, they can all move to Ibadan where such things will be tolerated. Seyi will build homes and shops for them. But in the meantime, una go continue to call Ibadan 'the biggest slum in Africa', as many of you are fond of doing. Oshi.

What a senseless set of people called government, if the so called big men in power did not embessle the common wealth in the first instance, I'm sure their would have been more than enough resouces to provide low cost estate at least for everyone to put their heads at night, now that you demolished their shelters and means of livelihood, hope you realize you just unleash another set of frustrated minds, armed robbers, prostitutes and the likes to the already oversaturated level at hand. Until the government start to properly allocate the available resources the poor man will keep finding a mean to survive at all cost.
We should have social security monthly payment for every Nigerian that is unemployed and unable to find a job.
Some Candidates had that plan, but Nigerians at state and federal level level didn't vote for them.

why are you being defensive and arguing tribalism? Other states in Nigeria where these people come from, their governors are feeding fat and eating with all their limbs while their people flee to Lagos and become liabilities to the state. Yet when they ask for special status for Lagos they won’t give it. Lagos needs to deport them back to their states. Other governors also need to start working. Rubbish. If you no get house or job for Lagos don’t come and become a nuisance.

Are your governors in your state dead? All these people running to Lagos will not let Lagos State do all you have said for their indigenes. We enjoy nothing because others don’t have the balls to demand better from their own governors. Until Nigeria grants Lagos a special status we don’t owe anybody SHIT. In fact they should be deported. Let their governors be held to account.

I don't support illegality and the traders should have obeyed the laws. That still does not change the fact there is freedom of movement and Nigerians are free to move to any part of the country.

we should be free to live anywhere in the country in peace and harmony you say, when ibos and middle belters have used opposition politics of bitterness to Tag a group as persona non grata in their communities YET rush to congest and pollute other peoples lands.
Tell your ethnic warriors both online (wailers) and offline (PDP, Ohaneze, Ipob, Afenifere, ) to stop beating the the drums of war when they lose elections,
tell them not to use their hatred of one man to stereotype an entire race.
