I have noticed a shortage of staff at Firstbank of Nigeria since last year. Most of their cubicles are empty with just one or two staff to attend to customers. I visited one of their branches again yesterday and I noticed the same.

Is the bank distressed?

Yes they are.

It's either they lock up or there would be a merger.

Too bad if it's true, but if there's no much customers there is need to employ and pay idle staff according to your picture

That can be true! The last bank to be distressed in Nigeria should be FBN. They have sound economic fundamental s, but what do l know? ln this terrible economic period when Nigerian is spending stupidly and heavily on questionable subsidy and about borrowing $30b in a country where the cost of governance is sicking and frightening, any thing is possible. God help us all!
