Resident and shop owners within Awka and environs are currently protesting against the alleged metering fraud and other sharp practises perpetuated by Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC. The protesters mostly made of shop owners along the Zik's Avenue and around Eke Awka turned out in number to protest against the perceived ill of EEDC, especially the withdrawal of prepaid meters they purchased or got from EEDC. Iza Nwosu a popular social crusader is among the protesters which is expected to terminate at the EEDC Headquarters in Awka.
