If they need any regional security, they should first of all push for constitutional amendment where security will be shifted to regions infact full restructuring.

So let them follow the right step and push for restructuring through constitutional amendment and insertion of referendum in the constitution.

If not so, then Amotekun is a nuisance and must be treated as such.

But each state involved can legislate at state level like the hisbah thing and have joint
and operational rules. The effectiveness of this body will subsequently push for state or regional policing restructure. Nigeria is a federating unit therefore, should provide for layers of policing system with checks and balancing built within. Same federal system is why we can have sharia law in somes states up north. Because our law has not been challenged at the court does not mean the the presidency or executive is absolutely correct. Who is afraid of true interpretation of federalism? The current system has become too restrictive to emerging developmental challenges. Let breakdown this political shackles so as to attain the level of development we desire.

Which Constitution is the Minister referring to? Where was the so called Constitution when people are being killed without adequate protection. It is easier for pple to be sitted in their Air-conditioned office n be talking of Constitution while farmers n travellers are being killed at will.

Miyetti Allah is now speaking through the mouth of Federal Officers.

We have expressed fears for years about the conduct and excesses of miyetti and Govt acted like it was deaf, no response, no action.

Olu Falae was kidnapped. No action so they visited him a second time and when his guards blocked access they killed one of them. No action. So they visited the farm a third time and burnt down his crops. Still no action. No Police Minister came out to warn miyetti that their action is unconstitutional.

Amotekun came out, it hasnt even been a month yet....now Govt want us to adjust because miyetti is afraid.

Sense of entitlement.

Amotekun is permanent!

Your tears are so salty. If Igbos had this challenge and had written this, you for one would have sided the same Fulanis. Now that have shown you they used you in 2015 to get to power, you are crying.

Amotekun: South-West govs’ intentions good but unconstitutional, Police affairs minister

The Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, says the intentions of South-West governors for establishing Amotekun are good but the constitution bestowed the responsibility of national security on the Federal Government.

NAN quoted Dingyadi as speaking during an interview with newsmen in Sokoto.

The minister, who said the police were doing well in tackling the menace of kidnapping in all forms, enjoined Nigerians to support them in order to ensure maximum success in that regard.

Commenting on the South-West security outfit codenamed "Operation Amotekun”, Dingyadi said, "The intentions of the Southwest governors are good. However, some people have expressed fears about the regional security force.

”Security is an exclusive responsibility of the Federal Government being supported at times by state governments and other organisations.

”If Operation Amotekun differs from the support being rendered by state governments to the Federal Government on security matters, then it is unconstitutional,” Dingyadi stated.

He said that the border closure by the Federal Government had yielded results.

Dingyadi further stated that the police would perform efficiently if the military personnel were withdrawn from areas affected by insurgency, saying that managing internal security was their primary responsibility.

We have supported Amoteks from Day One.

Amoteks will stay if only the founders do not let known, traitors, criminals, troublemakers to be speaking for them
Up to the point of Cownu promising Amoteks 1 million members.
Which sane Government will support that?

Anything that FFK and Cownu come out to support will always end in failure.
This has happened many times prior now.
FACTS speak for itself.
We really hope so.
We hope you dont let these craze men infiltrate into Amoteks.
The supporter of evil they are.

Amoteks started having ish when these 2 criminals (FFK and Cownu) joined their Voice to them.

We should commend the Western Leaders for their good security initiative.
This is something that the entire South should copy.

However good the state security set up may be, it should not stop us from taking private security measures, for example the presence of the police in the street is no guarantee for one to leave all his door open at nite.
The best security measures occur in layers.

The North started HISBAH long ago and cannot morally complain about the west starting what they have been enjoying for long in the north.
I commend our Yoruba brothers on this achievement.

My disappointment is that the SE and SS are yet to wake up and it's already late afternoon.
