Many Nigerians have been wondering why Nigeria was penned down for such treatment but I can tell you for free that the ban stems from the poorly thought out protest by Nigerian Shia Muslims in the wake of the new year killing of Iranian Terrorist and strongman Soleimani where they took to the streets of Abuja protesting and burning the US flag and action which immediately put the country in the cross hair of US intelligence who were on high alert to prevent any possible retaliation from supporters of Soleimani ..Nigeria was penned down as society where possible retaliation against US interest and citizen might come from as a result of that meaningless protest .. Donald Trump is not Buhari and will do anything possible to protect American lives even if it means extending a travel ban to Africas most populous country ..

The way forward is for the Buhari govt to quickly open diplomatic channels with the US govt to assure them those protests where carried out by just a few disgruntled and mislead urchin who our govt has now placed on security watch .

The protest by the Shiites is not why Trump placed a travel ban on Nigeria. America recognises the right of protest. The reason why Trump placed that ban is because of terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria. The Nigerian government was busy proscribing IPOB and IMN because of 'violent street protest' not knowing that it was listing Nigeria as a terrorist country

While other countries only declare organisation that have taken up arms against state and are very violent, as terrorists groups, the Nigerian government chose to declare unarmed IPOB and unarmed IMN 'terrorists' over violent street protests that obtains in any country in the world
