FRESH facts have emerged that not all the leaders and governors of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) were in support of the street protest against the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, to seek the review of the judgment against ex-Governor Emeka Ihedioha.

Unknown to many, there was a split among the opposition governors on the desirability or otherwise of such an action.

The division became evident when it was realised that the PDP Governors Forum did not issue a statement to mobilise party leaders and members to join the protest. Also, some South-East and South-South governors pretended as if no protest was being staged.

A South-East governor was heard saying: “I cannot be a party to mudslinging against the Judiciary. We warned some of those behind the protest to think of tomorrow.”

This is Politics, and everyone is fighting for their own survival, and trying not to end up in Jail like Orji Uzor Kalu

To protest what? Read the judgment. It is sound in law and logic. Very sound. Ihedioha‘a Lawyers are not infallible. They alleged Uzodinma results were forged and didn’t prove it. INEC said it had the genuine results results but never presented them in Court. Issues were joined on the exclusion of Uzodinma results and shown by the production of Forms EC8A and B. Since Issues were not joined on whether elections held at the places from where the excluded results emanated therefore there was no need to call all the polling agents as the Supreme Court had laid down previously. It was sufficient for the policeman who did to tender the results in the light of the dissenting judgment of the lower court. Judges are not guided by sentiments but law applied to facts presented to them by Lawyers whose duty it is to ensure a thorough presentation. Put differently, Judges are still water! The Supreme Court did a Good job.

Mention another instance in Nigerian judicial history where the SC ruled against all lower courts AND INEC itself in other to immediately remove a seating governor - all based on clearly questionable, uncollaborated, and unauthenticated documents supplied solely by the plaintiff himself!!

PDP is a dead party as at now.

Although that is good for APC, but it is bad for Nigeria/Nigerians, will need a strong opposition, which only PDP can provide for now.

But for 2023, it is Osibanjo

The opposition in Nigeria is growing weaker and weaker and even disunited. Nigeria needs a robust and virile opposition to put the ruling party in check and push it to stay the course of good governance.
