The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Monday reviewed the current security architecture of the country and demanded an urgent restructuring to make a way for intervention from other tiers of government .

Lawan, in an interview with journalists in Abuja , also welcomed the recent regional and states initiatives to tackle the unfortunate security challenges in the country .
He said the Senate would summon the heads of the various security agencies in the country as soon as plenary resumes this week to work out a realistic arrangement that could adequately tackle the menace.

Asked to state his position on the regional intervention by governors to tackle insecurity , Lawan said it was a good idea.

He said , “All hands must be on deck . The Federal, states and local governments . More importantly, citizens must be involved. This is because wherever you see security improving, that means the citizens are playing their roles very well .
"The onus lies largely on government . So, we are going to work with the executive arm of government in this regard.

"We would engage the security agencies to find out why the security is deteriorating in many parts of the country.

" We have had series of engagement before but the escalation now has made it mandatory that we need a definite position as a government because we just cannot play politics with security issues.

"Lives are at stake here . Therefore the Senate will take a position on how security in the country should be. We believe that the security architecture should be restructured . The present system does not give us the type of outcome that we need.

"Whether it is the federal , state or local government ; Even the traditional rulers or others, the most important thing is to secure the lives and property of Nigerians and we would do that.

"The most important thing is to look into the issue of security that is bedeviling this country.

"Apparently and obviously , all hands must be on deck to ensure that we bring back a better security situation that we had before . Presently the story is not good. In many areas we have so much happening that is destabilising our communities and killing of people.

"We believe that we owe Nigerians , the responsibility to intervene and work together with the executive arm of government , actually to work together with other tiers of government - the states and even the local governments .

"We should ensure that we change the way we approach the security issues in this country. Apparently the system has not been working efficiently and effectively and we have to do something.

"This time around there should not be buck passing , we have to be forthright . We have to say it as it is and we have to do it as it is required "

I have forgotten that Nigeria has a Senate president just like the vice president as well. I only know of the president and his cabals.
I don't think you have much to say regarding this, Mr rubber stamp.
I thought people were saying Saraki as at the Senate president was the one drawing Nigeria progress backwards, this present one will be worst.

The first time this man will talk like a person with his own mind and thinking.

If nothing is done this country will slip into anarchy. I for one will not put my hope in hand of NIgeria government again. The insensitivity of the present government is worse.

This is why whether it's raining fire and brimstone, Àmòtékùn will stand. Any Westerner that will stand against it will perish (it's the reality)
.Western NIgeria has the highest foreign direct investment in the country mostly because it's relatively more peaceful.

The Omoluabis will not looking while some criminals are moving around in our forests with AKs. Others could try to romance the situation but we can't.

If you are not a criminal, bandits, terrorist, kidnappers, criminal herder etc, you have nothing to fear.

Anybody that feel threatened could start her own security architecture. Or forever remain quiet.

The welfare of security personal should be taken seriously. Why must people working in less risk job in federal government collecting salary more than our security men. E.g FIRS, NNPC etc. The federal government always claimed they are generate revenue but what of the risk our security men are facing? If any security personal die on duty, federal government suppose send his children to school on scholarship. 3. In gorilla war, advance technology is needed in other to win the war. For examplr, USA can't win any war in Asian country without Air supporting because these people are good in ground war. Air support is very important.

Mr senate president, hope you are saying the mind of your boss....

If as a Nigerian you still think we have three arms of government, well its depends on where you belong... If u are a student it's good for examinations anything else you are just day dreaming.

Nigeria currently operates four arms of government.
1. The Legislature (Executive's puppet)
2. The Judiciary (Executive Stooge)
3. The Executive (Controlled by the cabals)
4. The Cabals
