Soldiers from the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri on Thursday invaded the Press Centre of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and arrested Daily Trust reporter, Mr Tunji Omirin.

The soldiers – one in uniform carrying assault rifle (AK 47) and two others in plainclothes handcuffed Omirin and dragged in into a waiting Ford Focus light blue car.

“We are from 7 Div; we are taking him there,” they said, as they drove off from the Press Centre at about 4:40 pm.

His colleagues at the Daily Trust Regional office in Maiduguri twice in the day requested to see Omirin, claiming they wanted to do a change of name.

This is coming barely a year after the newspapers bureau chief and a reporter were arrested by soldiers.

If Boko boys show na, they’ll throw gun and uniform and japa, then start blaming Government for not providing them with rockets, missiles, and nuclear weapons.

Nigerian Army gets ambushed daily yet you dont want them to investigate the information leak

Only Army, Medical Personel and Journalist have access to theater of war, yet Armies and Medical staffs are being ambushed while journalist get full access to record Leah's naming ceremony and CAN chairman beheading

Release him immediately. Journalists should not be harrased. If he has done something wrong DSS or police are the right people to interact with him.

Daily Trust should immediately pettition the Department of Civilizian Military Affairs/
Nigerian Army Human Rights Desk on this issue.

They won't invade book haram hideouts, for fear of death. but if they see civilians their blood go just dey hot,... Please they should invade fulani herd men and bandits enclaves first, so that we can see them as strong men, they try to act before civilians, today is my birthday house...
