In 2018, When Donald Trump imposed steel tariffs against Canadian Steel, Many Canadians responded by boycotting made in USA products.

If Nigerians are not good enough to travel to the USA, should we continue to patronize American companies like Apple, Amazon, Hewlett-Packard, Ford, GM Motors, Godaddy, Namecheap, Tom Ford, DKNY, Boeing, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Levi's, Gap, etc?

Let Buhari first boycott London hospital for himself and UK schools for his children.

Na only masses go dey bear the brunt of bad governance every time

It sounds good to theory. But we just dont have the economic power based on our commercial culture.it it easier to target a single company

For instance see netflix. 10 millon uk subscribers. With tbeir small population
In nigeria Netflix has 500k. Just 500k
Thats how small our middle class is. It was same with bbm. South africa has 300-400k netflix subscribers
1 million peoole had working bbm phones in naija only 500k subscribed to messanger services data. Our middke class is small.
If anyone can look up numbers for other services amd share. Yes we get population but population no get money

It's not only "retaliate" , it's "rita dominic".

Did you hear Trump bad-mouth citizens of his country? When Buhari was busy belittling Nigerians, calling us lazy and criminals, Publishing photos of countless young men and women tagging them scammers and thieves- How on earth do you expect anybody to give a damn about Nigerians?

This man we voted for was the biggest mistake. He has done a good job at setting the nation backward- He doesn't mind if we are eating from the gutters.

Do we still have Vice President in this country?? Be like na mute mode him dey now.

The world has no respect for Nigeria. They didn't call him lifeless for no reasons.

You call him lifeless but he is building roads, rail and other infrastructures.

Canadians didn't boycott American products. Only maybe about 0.00000000000000000005% of the population. We rely on American products 99.9999999999999999% of the time.

Bros, blame it on that old man in Abuja. They have no respect for him whatsoever and that's his own doing. Upon all the travelling up and down, we still get banned like the 4th world country he portrayed us to be.

Buhari should only rule the Abokis who thinks like him . His backwardness has put us in this shitty situation. He is worse than any President we've had. He's nothing but a bully. He wants the world to believe he's a noble man but nah, he's far from it and when he leaves, the new administration shall expose his excesses as well.

I don't know what I was thinking to have voted for this kinda human being. Took my dear Nigeria back to stone age.

so you voted for Buhari??

A country in her 60th year of independence still crying because of mere travel ban.
A self acclaimed giant of a continent shivering because another giant blocked his number.

Is Nigeria an independent country?
What about people that filled up her space, are they independent?
How do you describe someone that assumes all is well as long as he/she is comfortable?
How are we sure that he who complains and blames is not driven by personal pains?
If Nigeria is a failed nation, are Nigerians not the architects? If we all are going to be proud of her success, why isolating from her failure?

We care so much about international image. We are quick to compare, condemn and blame. Buhari is always the problem while the educated fools (with all international exposures) see nothing damaging in breaking basic civil rules; they are quick to lecture but following a queue is an insult to their ego.

No contribution is negligible (positive or negative). Check, if your comfort is causing discomfort somewhere else, you're as guilty as the most corrupt leader.

I want the whole Europe to ban Nigeria too
A country full of terrorists and zombies..
They burned a US flag in Abuja when a terrorist was killed in Iran
A poverty breeding capital of the world

Any country that voted a calamity like Buhari deserve such treatment abroad...

A lifeless dullard bereft of modern day leadership ideas required to revamp our ailing economy... Always traveling to embarrass the country at any given opportunity...

Why do you lots think buhari is your problem alone, most of you fools who are quick to castigate buhari collects bribe from your work place, and do lot of disservice to this country. Yes, buhari has done nothing but at least he has the brain to close the borders so we can eat what we produce. You blame the almost dead man for everything forgetting that this country herself has no structure to discourage lots of vices. Most of our collective patrimony goes to bureaucracy and we keep serving the pocket of our political leaders with what should have been meant for all. Stop gardening likes because of buhari, let say things the ways it should be. Even if tomorrow we have another administration with what we have on ground, we will still get the same result. And for the usa case, inasmuch as we need them they also need us, in fact strategically every advance country needs Nigeria, because we have the economic resources and the population to be next big thing, but then I don't see that happening with the useless constitution we have in this country, which is suppose to be beneficial to all.

You spoke with wisdom but some dullard said stupid comment.

Why are fools so confident?

@ the bolded grin, fools are confident because they hardly see any consequence, like the confidence of a two-year old before a rabid devourer. A wise man once said that "the greatest fear is in knowing what comes next before others" A fool will say this thing is not me, I don't give a damn, but a wise man will say this is a fire left untouched, it can burn the whole buidling. You can see, fear is useful sometimes in life, because it is an awareness of our existence, but how you use it is important.

Thanks for your comment.

Any retaliation where it would it hard should be online. Online businesses are by nature Global hence a ban or boycott will hit hard. The problem with boycotts is that they lose steam eventually.

Anyway, this thought of a boycott is even ridiculous. Nigerians will blink first should the US or actually Trump retaliates.

If I was Nigeria president I will ensure that there is a legislation that everyone applying for US visa must pay triple the cost. This is for the lost of manpower to Nigeria, it'll also serve a source of revenue generation n help stem the tide of those applying for the visa.

Trump did not ban naija because of overstay of visas or any other minor crimes that nigerians do commit in us. He banned nigeria because of the burnt u.s flag in abuja. Buhari is not n wud neva be bothered because few northerners travels to u.s. It is the south that loses out. All the southerners that voted this idiot wud suffer the most n its already happening. By the time buhari leaves office, the south wud b on the same level with the north-thats buhari's plan n its already manifesting.

The problem with Nigeria is disloyalty and sheet stupidity. Many Nigerians are opening teeth and dancing that trump banned us. In their mind since they know they will never get chance to travel out so they don't care. Foolishly they don't understand international politics and the effect of the ban on Nigeria internationally.

Take a look at the class of countries trump grouped us into. This is how we will be viewed by the international community. If u think the ban will punish the rich or elite that u so envy, think again. They are more connected and privileged that ur sorry poor dumb ass grin

If we were a nation that really produces things for ourselves, and are self reliant "to a reasonable extent", than boycotting American companies, goods and services would have been a viable option.

Go and read the reason for the ban. There are several reasons for the ban on different countries affected. The ban was reportedly done in the national security interest of their country. I don't think we should blmae them for that if our own govt will not take actions in the national security interest of our country. For example chad was also on that ban list because of poor reporting process of lost or stolen passport. They were later removed from the list when significant actions were taking to improve the process. The issue they claim they have with Nigeria despite our cooperation with the US on counter terrorism issues has to do with our identity management systems and reporting to interpol which they said requires improvement. So if we want to let off the hook, our government should do the needful. They know what to do.

A beggar accousts a man on the streets and the man tells him to go find a job. The beggar boycotts him. Who loses.

We are neck deep in insecurity, a key reason many flee the country. We are told to strengthen our security architecture and we are angry.... Is there a depth of foolishness greater than this....

Indeed developemnt will never come to this country even if it fell like a meteorite and levelled everything from the Atlantic to the Sahara. Like the beggar we are set in our ways till the grave.
