Good advice

If it were your own life on the line, I assure you that you would be the one begging your family members to look for money anywhere/by any means for your ransom. It's a very difficult situation: on the one hand you don't want to encourage kidnappers, but on the other hand, life is too precious to lose just because of refusal to pay. In fact on several occasions, even in advanced countries where the government vows not to pay ransom, family members of the kidnapped person(s) accuse govt. of insensitivity and are prepared to fund/negotiate their loved ones' release privately by themselves.
The way to go is to play along and then stage the safe rescue of the victims whilst capturing the kidnappers.
