President Muhammadu Buhari has voiced his opinion on the Boko Haram insurgency tackling different narratives being bandied around as well as allaying the fears of the people. The key parts of the opinion editorial have gone unnoticed with many focusing on his claim Muslims constitute the largest victims of the Boko Haram sect in Nigeria.

Below are some interesting key points taken from the piece published on a Christian website:

(1) Buhari recognised the good works of the late CAN leader, Pastor Lawan Andimi beheaded by the extremist group.

(2) Buhari believes Boko Haram has been 'defeated and degraded' despite the recent resurgence of the deadly group.

(3) Buhari didn't recognize the efforts of the Civilian Joint Task-force as well as the Multinational Joint Task Force who have played key roles in the unconventional war against the terrorists. Instead, he specifically mentioned the "British and American militaries"

(4) Buhari stated that Boko Haram are no longer a 'unified threat' as they have been fragmented into groups.

(5) Buhari further admitted that Nigeria may not yet be completely winning the battle against terrorism.

(6) Buhari said that Christianity is not contracting under his administration with almost half of the Nigerian population aligning with the faith.

(7) Buhari controversially claimed that ninety percent of Boko Haram victims are Muslims and this has incidentally become the biggest headline of the day. He went further to accuse people of distorting the stories of the actual victims of the sect.

( Buhari accused the Boko Haram fighters of having a jaundiced view of the Quran.

(9) If indeed Buhari actually wrote the article, then he has a strong knowledge of the Holy Bible with could be seen in the several meaningful references he made.

(10) Lastly, Buhari ended by paying his last respect to the slain CAN leader in Adamawa, Pastor Andimi, urging everyone Nigeria to learn from his good and selfless works.

In other words, for every Pastor Andimi killed, 9 Imams had been killed. For every church bombed, 9 mosques had been bombed. For every Leah Sharibu kidnapped, 9 Amines had been kidnapped. ..and the list goes on.
