Thanks for the heads up..

Make una try acclimatize to that condition, Abuja is almost also the same but the government rolled out some busses to ease the situation.

Oga, Lagos is more populated and 10 times more busy than Abuja. Rolling out buses will only add to the misery of traffic jam.

When Shiek Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai said he wanted a change, it wasnt easy, he said it out loud Otoge!! back in the early 90s and his subject hissed and said dubai must remain rural for life and he was crazy, they were ok with their camels and donkeys with few Tokunbo cars telling him what isnt damage doesnt need fixing

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum went around with his crazy policies that was not similar to conservative islamic veiws and they called him prince of Saytan and unislamic, he went to Egypt Air to lease just 2 plane and started Emirate Airline, he came to Nigeria to meet Obasanjo and begged him to invest Nigerias free money in dubai and make Nigeria a great return on investment, Obasanjo bluntly told him nobody invested in a desert, while Atiku secretly siphoned his money to Dubai to own some of the best malls and towers in dubai

Now Sanwo-Olu is making a crazy move that can cost him a second term, and he wants to turn lagos around calling for private investors to join the BRT scheme and Lagosboat scheme, nobody is taking the offer, if an Atiku or a Dangote comes to Lagos and capitalize on the new oppurtunity bringing in double decker bus, people would wail and scream, while this men smile to the bank

Double decker Coaches and busses start retailing from about 30 million - to 43 million naira, Ferry boats cost similar, many celebs and yahoo boys in Lagos can buy one instead of benz and range rovers or empty mansions and join the BRT fleet managed by Lagos state Government and make money forever

.

Did Al Maktoum punish his people? No. Good and disciplined policies must be carried out with sense. If you don't want to see okadas and kekes, what are the alternatives? It was same Lagos government that popularly introduced keke during military governor Marwa days as an empowerment. And a great empowerment it has continued to be. It remains a good and huge source of employment and revenue, most efficient intracity transport mode, and safest form of transport in Lagos.
The ban should be in phases of places. There ought to be trains, water transport, more effective and convenient transport authority buses. They won't even need to ban before they phase out.

And the rot and decay in the country is caused by who? You and I know for sure the north has contributed so little to the development of this country and the same north have done more damage to the security, integrity and well being of this country. Some of the boko haram fighters are not nigerians, the power drunk leaders of the north knows this fact, a northern government that's sensitive to security issues should have done something about the porous borders with chad, niger and the rest, instead they continue collecting there security allocations from the central government and keep sending there families and relatives abroad to enjoy and school, forgetting that one day, posterity will catch up.
The security issues in the north: Is it political? YES, It is, Then why is it political, Because of selfish interests as they never for once wish them well, why will they invest in education, when they know that once elections come, they will not be able to manipulate there mostly gullible and illiterate northern electorate.

Please ask yourself the following questions?

-The boys coming to lagos from the north (mostly) and other parts of the country in there large numbers, how did they get money so quick to get this motorcycles they use for okada/or they quickly gained the trust of higher purchase vendors?

-Do you know the rate of accidents that involves this guys on a daily basis?

-Do you know because of there educational level, they hardly understand and read road/traffic signs which at the end lead to accidents? (i have experienced it, it was just God that saved me, the aboki and the innocent girl she carry that day would have been crushed to death)

-Do you know this boys are involved in so many criminal activities in the locals?

You mentioned regulations, pls what type of regulations are you taking about?
-they should work in the afternoon and not work in the morning?
-Or they should work at night and not work in the afternoon, Common.

You also mentioned nigerians moving abroad, yes,

-Do they go there to constitute nuisance?
-Do they go there to break their laws?
-Do they go there without valid ID's?
-Do they go there without valid documentations?

That is where lagos is heading to and I believe all other forward looking states are also taking a quee from the developments in lagos.

The LSG has done the right thing and it will remain like that, who ever is not happy about it should go back to his/her village and farm.

Afterall, the government never said go back to your respective states.

A cleaner and decent lagos is what we want.

"Eko o ni baje" (lagos no go spoil)

Again, you are pointing to someone as the cause of your problem because he is different from you. The Aboki is not "innocent" its ok for you to crush that one to death only the girl is innocent... Lagos state that is not requesting you to have a mandatory motor cycle licence and riding is to blame. Nigerians come to the USA in droves and break the laws by overstaying their visas and Nigerians and Indians are the cab drivers in most big cities in the USA. You have to take exams and obtain a driver's licence to enable you drive. Lagos State can do the same. You can say all youre saying now, forgetting that we all are interdependent on each other. I rest my case.

In Rome, Tokyo, London and Mexico city, people uses bicycle to work and there's no qualm. Bicycle or horse is acceptable anywhere in d world. Let Lagosians adopt d same mode of transportation and it'll save them better than their anticipated protest.

Okada/Keke Ban: Who Else Has Been Experiencing This Strange Thing In Lagos Of Late?

Since the restriction on the operations of commercial motorcycles and tricycles on the 1st of February, 2020 as promulgated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagosians of different economic and social classes have been feeling the scathing heat, although at different degrees.

Most of the low-income earners have been trekking over long distances to get to work amidst an increase in prices of bus fares. Even the ride-hailing company, Taxify has been experiencing a serious surge in prices with customers either reluctantly patronizing or shunning their services for now.

But these aren't the strange things happening on Lagos roads that this article is about. The traffic jams in Lagos have been doubled since the ban and the reasons are clear. Most people have complained bitterly about the wastage of man-hours in traffic and the problem isn't abating. Here is a decent explanation for their present predicament: several people have vehicles in Lagos State. The issue is that due to the regular incidents of traffic gridlocks, many leave their vehicles at home and go to work by public transport. According to the beliefs of these people, it's cheaper to commute by public transport although it could be quite uncomfortable. People have also cultivated the habit of using motorcycles to escape heavy traffic especially in the Victoria Island/Lekki axis of Lagos State. With the partial ban placed on Okada and Keke Napep, most people keeping their vehicles for rare usage mostly during weekends and special social engagements have rolled them out in obedience to the doctrine of necessity. The resultant effect is the compounding of the issue of traffic in the overpopulated city of Lagos where the public resources especially roads are severely strained and dilapidated.

The Lagos State government's plan to release vehicles to serve as palliatives for the vacuum left behind by the Okadas and Kekes has fallen short in terms of numbers with many believing the action was only successful on paper alone.

For now, going to work everyday has become more difficult, strenuous and expensive for Lagosians. From the look of things, people might be staying indoors more on weekends except occasions they need to attend are very important. As Sanwo-Olu remains resolute about his decision to ban Okada and Keke, a massive protest has been planned this weekend to mount serious pressure on him.

Even when you provide portable water, the water tanker 'investor' goes out of business.

Lagos will be just fine. Eko oni Baje!

amc:
Traffic jams are less on the Island.

Sanwo-Olu is not lifting any ban. The ban in the 6 local governments is permanent. People will get used to it. Most car users are very happy with the ban.

It is very funny that the jackasses in Nigeria cannot think to save themselves from hunger yet they want to come to USA. Lagosians of all classes should march to Lagos government house and demand either the idiotic governor stand down the ban on Okada and Keke or he step down as governor of Lagos State. They should all make Lagos ungovernable for the goon called Sanwo-Olu.
