WHO CARES HERE IS WHAT COUNTS FOR "YOU"
:Your eyes need to look a little further away, the short comings need to be addressed if they are overlooked then such people who are left with such shortcomings will become stagnated in their development.
It is thus compassionate for a person who knows to point out such short comings.
The old way of polishing everyones egos and denying such shortcomings has not made any persons become realised, a short coming of the ego is just that and it thus should not be overlooked.
What you should understand is what you yourself can get from it, does it really matter if the motivation of the person who is pointing out the short comings comes from compassion or comes from a vengeful ego?
The fact is such a revelation no matter who where or why it comes up is an opportunity for the reciprient to work on himself....
If such a reciprient takes it as being personal, then even that short coming should be pointed out.
Everything is an opportunity to use for growth and those who point out our shortcomings are the ones who help us the most.
In the past it never worked where people felt the need to tip toe around sensitive egos, often those who do tiptoe arpund sensitive egos do so because they themselves have sensitive egos and thus do not wish to look at how they really are.
As I see it in a spiritual work all these things are beneficial let the egoists who want to stay that way protect their precious egos while those of us who want a better life and a better safer planet to live on use these things as material for our own benefit and by that for the worlds benefit.
LET IT BECOME THE WATER THAT FALLS FROM A DUCKS BACK INSTEAD OF STICKY SHIT THAT STICKS TO A WALL./

Truth must be spoken in love else it won't be balanced.

Correction that comes from being vengeful is actually not going to be accurate

Our motive behind the correction matters a lot.
As much as you need to correct in love.
Sometimes, you don't even need to approach the person unless God tells you to.thw best you can do is to pray for the person and if you so much love them...then do a fervent prayer/fasting for them.
Bible says we should remove the log of wood in our own eyes first before we have clear eyes to see other people's wrongdoing.
Sometimes, it is because you have made it an habit to always find people that are doing wrong, that is why it is you that keeps seeing faults in people.
On the other hand, if all you keep seeing around you is people that needs correction, be sure that you are the one that needs deliverance.

Before you go to correct someone, please learn to pray first, only then can you minister to people.
You have no idea what people are going through that is making them misbehave.
All in all, Prayer is the key.

I'm not theist but i'll answer the question.
It depends on your moltive and the manner in which you do it.
If you point out someone elses sin simply to make mockery or to persecute them, then it's a sin. And you're nothing but a bloody hypocrite. Cos everyone's dirty including you.
If you do so to correct the other individual in a mature, understanding manner, then it's not.

SHALOM!

If "SIN" is first defined, the answer to this question becomes elementary.

.     EXODUS 20:1-7.

AND God Spake
all these Words,
Saying,

2. "I (am) The LORD thy God,
Which have brought thee
out of The Land of Egypt,
out of The House of Bondage.

3. "Thou shalt have
no other gods before Me.

4. "Thou shalt not
make unto thee
any graven image,
or any likeness (of any thing)
that (is) in the Earth beneath,
or that (is) in the Water
under the Earth:
5. "Thou shalt not
bow down thyself to them,
nor serve them:
for I The LORD thy God
(am) a Jealous God,
visiting the iniquity
of the fathers
upon the third and fourth (generation)
of them that Hate Me.
6. "And shewing Mercy
unto thousands of them
which Love Me,
and Keep My Commandments.

7. "Thou shalt not
take The Name
of The LORD thy God
in vain;
for The LORD will not
hold him guiltless
that taketh His Name
in vain."

. NUMBERS 15:27-31.

27. "And if any man Sin
through Ignorance,
then he shall bring
a She Goat of the first year
for a Sin Offering.
28. "And the Priest
shall make an Atonement
for the Soul
that Sinneth Ignorantly,
when he Sinneth
by Ignorance
before The LORD,
to make an Atonement
for him,
and it shall be
forgiven him.
29. " Ye shall have one Law
for him that Sinneth Ignorantly
(both for) him
that is born
among the Children of Israel,
and for the Stranger
that sojourneth
among them.
30. "But the Soul
that doeth
(ought) presumptuously,
(whether he be)
born in the land,
or a Stranger,
the same reproacheth
The LORD;
and that Soul
shall be cut off
from among his people.
31. "Because he hath
despised The Word
of The LORD,
and hath broken
His Commandment,
that Soul
shall utterly be cut off;
his Iniquity
(shall be) upon him."

. 1st JOHN 3:1-18.

BEHOLD,
what manner of Love
The Father hath
bestowed upon us,
that we should be called
The Sons of God:
therefore the World
knoweth us not,
because It knew him not.
2. Beloved,
now are we
The Sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear
what we shall be:
but we know that,

"WHEN HE SHALL APPEAR,
WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM;
FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM
AS HE IS."

3. And every man
that hath this Hope in him
purifieth himself,
even as he is pure.
4. Whosoever committeth Sin
transgresseth also The Law:
for Sin is the Transgression
of The Law.
5. And ye know
that he was manifested
to take away our Sins;
and in him is no Sin.
6. Whosoever abideth in him
Sinneth not:
whosoever Sinneth
hath not seen him,
neither known him.
7. Little Children,
let no man deceive you:

"HE THAT DOETH RIGHTEOUSNESS
IS RIGHTEOUS,
EVEN AS HE IS RIGHTEOUS."

8. He that committeth Sin
is of The Devil;
for The Devil Sinneth
From The Beginning.
For this cause
The Son of God
was manifested,

"THAT HE MIGHT DESTROY
THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL."

9. Whosoever is Born of God
doth not commit Sin:
for His Seed
remaineth in him,
and he cannot Sin,
because he is Born of God.
10. In this
The Children of God
are manifest,
and The Children of The Devil:

"WHOSOEVER DOETH
NOT RIGHTEOUSNESS
IS NOT OF GOD,
NEITHER HE THAT
LOVETH NOT HIS BROTHER."

11. For this is The Message
that ye heard
From The Beginning,

"THAT WE SHOULD
LOVE ONE ANOTHER."

12. Not as Cain,
who was of That Wicked One,
and slew his brother.
And wherefore slew he him?
Because his own works
were Evil,
and his brother's Righteous.
13. Marvel not, my Brethren,
if the World hate you.
14. We know that we
have passed from Death unto Life,
because we love The Brethren.
He that loveth not his Brother
abideth in Death.
15. Whosoever hateth his Brother
is a Murderer:
and ye know that no Murderer
hath Eternal Life abiding in him.
16. Hereby perceive we
The Love of God,
because he laid down
his life for us:
and we ought to lay down
our lives for the Brethren.
17. But whoso hath
this World's good,
and seeth his brother
have need,
and shutteth up
his Bowels (of Compassion)
from him,
how dwelleth
The Love of God
in him?
18. My Little Children,
let us not love in Word,
neither in Tongue;
but in Deed and in Truth.

. JOHN 8:28-53.

28. Then Said Jesus
unto them,

"When ye have lifted up
The Son of Man,
then shall ye know
that I am he,
and that I do
nothing of myself;
but as my Father
hath Taught me,
I Speak these things.
29. "And He that sent me
is with me:
The Father hath not
left me alone;
for I do always those things
that please Him."

30. As he Spake
these Words,
many believed on him.

31. Then Said Jesus
to those Jews
which believed on him,

"If ye continue
in my Word,
then are ye
my Disciples indeed;
32. "And ye shall
know The Truth,
and The Truth
shall make you Free."

33. They answered him,

"We be Abraham's Seed,
and were never in bondage
to any man:
how sayest thou,

'YE SHALL BE
MADE FREE?' "

34. Jesus answered them,

"Verily, verily,
I Say unto you,

WHOSOEVER COMMITTETH SIN
IS THE SERVANT OF SIN.
35. 'AND THE SERVANT
ABIDETH NOT
IN THE HOUSE FOR EVER:
BUT THE SON
ABIDETH EVER.'

36. "If the Son therefore
shall make you free,
ye shall be free indeed.
37. "I know that ye are
Abraham's Seed;
but ye seek to kill me,
because my Word hath
no place in you.
38. "I Speak That Which
I have seen with my Father:
and ye do that which
ye have seen with your Father."

39. They answered
and said unto him,

"Abraham is our father."

Jesus Saith unto them,

"If ye were Abraham's Children,
ye would do
the Works of Abraham.
40. "But now
ye seek to kill me,
a man that hath told you
The Truth,
Which I have heard of God:
this did not Abraham.
41. "Ye do the deeds
of your father."

Then said they to him,

"We be not
born of fornication;
we have one Father,
even God."
42. Jesus Said unto them,

"If God were your Father,
ye would love me
for I proceeded forth
and came from God;
neither came I of myself,
but He sent me.
43. "Why do ye not
understand my Speech?
Even because ye cannot
hear my Word.
44. "Ye are of your
Father The Devil,
and the lusts
of your Father ye will do.
He was a Murderer
From The Beginning,
and abode not in The Truth,
because there is
no Truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie,
he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar,
and the Father of It.
45. "And because
I Tell you The Truth,
ye believe me not.
46. "Which of you
convinceth me of Sin?
And if I say The Truth,
why do ye not believe me?
47. "He that is of God
heareth God's Words:
ye therefore hear them not,
because ye are not of God."

48. Then answered the Jews,
and said unto him,

"Say we not well
that thou art a Samaritan,
and hast a Devil?"

49. Jesus answered,

"I have not a Devil;
but I honour my Father,
and ye do dishonour me.
50. "And I seek not
mine own Glory:
there is one that seeketh
and judgeth.

51. "Verily, verily,
I Say unto you,

'IF A MAN
KEEP MY SAYING,
HE SHALL NEVER
SEE DEATH.' "

52. Then said the Jews
unto him,

"Now we know
that thou hast a Devil.
Abraham is dead,
and the Prophets;
and thou sayest,

'IF A MAN
KEEP MY SAYING,
HE SHALL NEVER
TASTE OF DEATH.'

53. "Art thou greater
than our father Abraham,
which is dead?
and the Prophets are dead:
whom makest thou thyself?"

SIN IS THE BREAKING OF ONE OR MORE OF GOD'S COMMANDMENTS BY MOSES.

Nothing more.

No one has a right to make up Imaginary Sins that do not exist, and charge people with them.

. DEUTERONOMY 4:1-2.

NOW therefore hearken,
O Israel,
unto the statutes
and unto the judgments,
which I teach you,
for to do them,
that ye may live,
and go in and possess
the land which the LORD God
of your fathers giveth you.
2. Ye shall not add unto
the Word which I Command you,
neither shall ye diminish ought
from it,
that ye may keep
The Commandments
of The LORD your God
which I Command you.

. MATTHEW 15:1-20.

THEN came to Jesus
scribes and Pharisees,
which were of Jerusalem,
saying,

2. "Why do thy Disciples
transgress the Tradition
of the Elders?
For they wash not
their hands when
they eat bread."

3. But he answered
and Said unto them,

"Why do ye also transgress
The Commandment of God
by your Tradition?
4. "For God Commanded,
Saying,

'HONOUR THY FATHER
AND MOTHER:
AND, HE THAT CURSETH
FATHER OR MOTHER
LET HIM DIE THE DEATH.'

5. "But ye say,

'WHOSOEVER SHALL SAY
TO HIS FATHER OR MOTHER,

"IT IS A GIFT,
BY WHATSOEVER
THOU MIGHTEST BE
PROFITED BY ME;"

6. 'AND HONOUR NOT
HIS FATHER OR HIS MOTHER,
HE SHALL BE FREE.'

Thus have ye made
The Commandment of God
of none effect
by your Tradition.
7. "Ye Hypocrites,
well did Esaias
Prophesy of you,
saying,

8. 'THIS PEOPLE
DRAWETH NIGH UNTO ME
WITH THEIR MOUTH,
AND HONOURETH ME
WITH THEIR LIPS;
BUT THEIR HEART
IS FAR FROM ME.
9. 'BUT IN VAIN
THEY DO WORSHIP ME,
TEACHING FOR DOCTRINES
THE COMMANDMENTS
OF MEN.' "

10. And he called the multitude,
and Said unto them,

"Hear, and understand:
11. "Not that which goeth
into the mouth defileth a man;
but that which cometh
out of the mouth,
this defileth a man."

12. Then came his Disciples,
and Said unto him,

"Knowest thou that
the Pharisees were offended,
after they heard this Saying?"

13. But he answered and Said,

"Every plant,
which my Heavenly Father
hath not Planted,
shall be rooted up.
14. "Let them alone:
they be blind leaders
of the blind.
And if the blind lead the blind,
both shall fall into the ditch."

15. Then answered Peter
and said unto him,

"Declare unto us this Parable."

16. And Jesus Said,

"Are ye also yet
without understanding?
17. "Do not ye yet understand,
that whatsoever entereth in
at the mouth
goeth into the belly,
and is cast out
into the draught?
18. "But those things
which proceed
out of the mouth
come forth from the heart;
and they defile the man.
19. "For out of the heart
proceed Evil Thoughts,
Murders, Adulteries,
Fornications, Thefts,
False Witness, Blasphemies:
20. These are the things
which defile a man:
but to eat with
unwashen hands
defileth not a man."

NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO IMPOSE COMMANDMENTS ON PEOPLE, AND PRETEND THAT BREAKING THEM IS A SIN.

However, it is the DUTY of every Brethren to alert people committing Sin that they are breaking God's Commandments.

. LEVITICUS 19:16-18.

16. "Thou shalt not go up and down
as a Talebearer among thy people:
neither shalt thou stand against
the Blood of thy Neighbour:
I am The LORD.
17. "Thou shalt not Hate thy Brother
in thine heart:
thou shalt in any wise
rebuke thy Neighbour,
and not suffer Sin upon him.
18. "Thou shalt not Avenge,
nor bear any Grudge
against the Children of thy people,
but thou shalt Love thy Neighbour
as thyself:
I am The LORD."

. MATTHEW 18:15-20.

15. "Moreover if thy Brother
shall trespass against thee,
go and tell him his fault
between thee and him alone:
if he shall hear thee,
thou hast gained thy Brother.
16. "But if he will not hear thee,
then take with thee one or two more,

'THAT IN THE MOUTH
OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES
EVERY WORD
MAY BE ESTABLISHED.'

17. "And if he shall neglect to hear them,
tell it unto the Church:
but if he neglect to hear the Church,
let him be unto thee
as an Heathen man and a Publican.
18. "Verily I Say unto you,

'WHATSOEVER YE SHALL
BIND ON EARTH
SHALL BE BOUND IN HEAVEN:
AND WHATSOEVER YE SHALL
LOOSE ON EARTH
SHALL BE LOOSED IN HEAVEN.'

19. "Again I Say unto you,

'THAT IF TWO OF YOU
SHALL AGREE ON EARTH
AS TOUCHING ANY THING
THAT THEY SHALL ASK,
IT SHALL BE DONE FOR THEM
OF MY FATHER
WHICH IS IN HEAVEN.'

20. "For where two or three
are gathered together in my Name,
there am I in the midst of them."

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT SERVANTS OF GOD CORRECT ONE ANOTHER- OTHERWISE, JUDGMENT MAY COME ON EVERYONE- NOT JUST THE PERSONS WHO SINNED.

A Servant of God corrects themselves immediately. A HYPOCRITE makes EXCUSES not to REPENT.

The first comment on this thread says it all..

In addition, if thy brother (believer) sin, go and tell him privately. Rebuke openly rather than secret love. Above all, love one another and do all in the Love of Christ.

Prayer: May we not do without or belittle or forsake the Holy Spirit in our daily life. Despite being a prayerful, righteous, careful, vigilant, and bible student christian, we must totally depend on Holy Spirit to lead us according to His will, vision, and plan for us because we still know nothing compare to the depeer mystery and revelation ahead of us. Despite having obtain and follow the rules, without Him, we can still do nothing.. Holy Spirit take full charge!
