I found myself asking God for forgiveness daily because each day will never pass unless i commit one sin or the other. Now i begin to imagine myself, how can i ask God to for give me and commit that same crime tomorrow Will He really Forgive?

If you need a pastor, go to church, you don't come to an online forum. That's why nobody is responding because you need a pastor.

When you GENUINELY repent of a sin and ask God for forgiveness; you don't do it again. Why would you tell God you realised you have sinned by committing fornication and would not do it again, and THEN GO AND DO IT AGAIN, unless your 'repentance' was only 'mouth-deep' and not 'heart-deep' in the first place? It's like apologizing to a traffic warden for parking illegally but repeating the same action EVERYDAY! How does that show you are really sorry for doing it the first time? grin

2 Corinthians 7:10 (King James Version)

10For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Genuine repentance leads you to salvation; fake repentance leads you to death.
Re: I Found Myself Asking God For Forgiveness Daily by Joagbaje(m): 6:34pm On Dec 16, 2010
@poster,

Of course God forgives each time a Christian ask for forgiveness.

1 John 2:1
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

But you can leave beyond the level of falling and confessing. You didn't state if you're born again or not. If you're not born again, you don't have business asking for forgiveness because God will not hear it. Forgiveness is only for a born again person. But if you're born again already and you keep falling into sin. It can only be because you've not allow the word of God to richly dwell in you. You need to grow up spiritually by feeding voraciously on the word.

Psalms 119:11
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Matthew 22:29
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

 1 Peter 2:2
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

You need to join a bible teaching church fully. Most churches have a structure by which converts are raised to maturity. But if all these are in place already and you still have challenges in the flesh. Let us know. There is something else to deal with. This goes beyond just confession,God doesn't really want you to keep falling and confessing.

You've added another katakatalambano poison yet again Joagbaje. Forgiveness is not only for any particular sect. God is able to forgive sins. He forgave sins while on earth, and He is the same today and forever. If anyone is REPENTANT, God will forgive. Go and sin no more. Only believe.

^^^ That is his way --- the poisonous way! We pointed out David and Psalm 51 to him in the past but of course he will not desist from spreading poison. A couple more examples of people "not born again" whose sins were forgiven.

Luke 7
44Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”

48Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Matthew 9:2
Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."

Joagbaje:

If you're not born again, you don't have business asking for forgiveness because God will not hear it. Forgiveness is only for a born again person.

undecided shocked Oh boy, you know what God hears and what God doesn't hear?

I used to hear and believe these lies a while back. But see here:

Psa 66:18  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me; [Prov. 15:29; 28:9; Isa. 1:15; John 9:31; James 4:3.]

i.e. if I refuse to ask for forgiveness, God won't hear anything else I have to say.

This is diametrically opposite to what Joagbaje is poisoning posting here.

This, and the contextualized verses, clearly states that ANYBODY can ask for forgiveness and there is no pre-requisite.

You have no need for a prior dealing with God ENABLING you to ask for forgiveness!

Mehn where do you guys brew these poisons?

As I said, you mix it thoroughly with truth, like in the post you made, Joagbaje, about everything else is true but this just invalidates it all, and since you have made it a prerequisite, it just nullifies the entire post.

Welcome to Joagbaje's Diner. You must eat the appetizer before the main course. The main course is pure but the appetizer is posioned.  undecided

What you call poison is the gospel truth.  You need to grow up a little in your understanding of righteousness. It is not the wrong doing of a man that makes him a sinner. And praying for forgiveness over such does not make a man right with God. He is a sinner by birth through Adam . He has to be re-born and have his old sin nature replaced as a new creation in christ.

I know you're one of those people that say that a woman with makeup  will go to hell fire. That's not the gospel of christ. Wake up to truth mister.

If a sinner is right with God just by asking for forgiveness , why did jesus have to come? He came to give us life, that life has righteousness.

Let me ask you a question. If does nice things, without doing bad. Even though he hasn't received Jesus , is he saved?

grin . Wonder shall never end. Forgiveness is for believers .  David was a shadow of believer In his day according to the standard of righteousness in their dispensation. They were God worshipers . They had relationship with God.

Forgave people in his day, because day were still under the law. So forgiveness was part if their system. But now , standard of righteousness has changed. A man has to be born again  and become re created, re born.  He has to receive life of christ in him. A sinner who has not the life of christ cannot even commit sin in th first place. His wrong doings don't make him a sinner. He us already one by birth even if he didn't do any evil. His breath itself is sin.

Imagine a Moslem say "God forgive me" has that earned him salvation? Muslims and other faiths actually do ask God for forgiveness. Can you see your errors now? Your doctrine is the actual poison.

Maybe I should allow you to answer for yourself . If a moslem, or juju man does bad to another person ,and he ask for forgiveness does that grant him salvation?  Pls respond.

What a sinner needs is REMISSION, a total wiping of the sin nature itself by the supplanting of the new nature in christ
He needs to accept Jesus first and confess Him as his Lord and saviour
Then he becomes a child of God
Then he can ask for forgiveness and he will be forgiven

This is sad. Very sad.  sad sad sadCan you give evidence for How God EVER changed his standards of righteousness?

What are the dynamics of this getting born again, and show how it DOES NOT include forgiveness? If there is no forgiveness for unbelievers, what happens when they get born-again? Do they get born-again without God forgiving them?
Na wa. This whole business about salvation and being born-again, you have it all muddled up. I would have asked for a new thread on it to thrash it out, but I recall we have had this discussion before: myself, you, Enigma, aletheia and nuclearboy are the discussants I recall. This was the only part was that was partially correct in your entire post, that's why I didn't highlight it.

The SAME token of salvation that David has is the exact same token of salvation I have: salvation in Christ Jesus by faith.

I know we have also thrashed this out in the past: David received salvation in Christ LOOKING FORWARD to Christ. I received salvation LOOKING BACKWARDS to Christ.

Re: I Found Myself Asking God For Forgiveness Daily by newmi(m): 10:00am On Dec 17, 2010
My dear poster, l admonish that you refuse to be discouraged you see perhaps there are some things you need to understand
Forgiveness and Repentance are not one and the same thing though they both have been wrongly interchange in everyday usage throughout the history of the church.

l have searched through the scripture especially the gospels and l have some stalling and insightful discoveries based on truth.
Almost in every occassion where the use of repentance was employed, it never suggested it to those who were already the believing ones

Time will fail me to give a chronological analysis which isn't what you require at this point thus its inconsequential but permit me to highlight some references
Heb 6:1
"Therefore leaving the principle of the doctrine of Christ, let us go onto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith towards God"

[color=#006600
]2 Corinthians 7:10 (WNT)
"For Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, a repentance not to be regretted, "
[/color]
2 Timothy 2:25
"In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God paraventure will give them repentance tothe acknowledging of the truth"
1 Timothy 2:3-4
"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."

So you see repentance always leads to Salvation by the acknowledging of the truth of the gospel. But what happens after you have acknowledged the truth of God's saving grace and hetherto accepted the salvation that Christ offers? Like in the scripture of Hebrews 6:1 where we read of "REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS", you cannot find any where in scriptures where the bible talks about "FORGIVENESS FROM DEAD WORKS" because what a man needs in his unregenerated state is a tial overhawling of the entire make up of his spiritual and inward essence, SIn is a nature so also righteousness is, like its the nature of a goat to feed on grass not flesh or like populaly put "excreta" so when find a goat attempting to feed on flesh which some have tried perhaps due to severe hunger, you just know something isn't right with this goat because the make up of the goat isn't structured by design to digest such ingestion.

Ephesians 1:7
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace"
The apostle paul attribute "the forgiveness of sins to the saints i.e the believers" thus he uses the pronoun "US"
Forgiveness is a family previllege as a remedy for mistakes but maturity demands that mistakes are minimized and reduced to its lowest ratings and if we think this is impossible; thats why we have the Holy Ghost to help us live the life that God has called us to live in christ Jesus.

Finally, what you need is to ask for forgiveness and believe that if you sincerely made that request, that you have a father who is morethan willing to forgive you and infact has forgiven you already in christ Jesus. (thats if you are already bornagain). Then as a christian you need to grow from babyhood to maturity by investing in your relationship with God in Christ Jesus by THE HELP OF HIS HOLY SPIRIT. GOD BLESS YOU

Re: I Found Myself Asking God For Forgiveness Daily by Enigma(m): 10:28am On Dec 17, 2010
@newmi

I see what you are trying to say but how  do you relate the following to the view you expressed on repentance?

Rev 2:5 (to the church of Ephesus)
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Rev 2:16 (to church in Pergamos)
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Now there is also this passage in Corinthians which is worth careful thinking about: (a) it is a case of repentance by Christians and (b) careful thinking about the second part will show the error of saying "non-Christians" cannot ask for forgiveness; a person asks for forgiveness when s/he realises that s/he is wrong and the person is sorry; that sorrow can indeed lead them to repentance; for that reason you people really should be encouraging non-Christians to ask for forgiveness!

2 Cor 7:9,10
Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

There are lots of things in the Bible that are more significant than we often realise.

On this issue of the forgiveness/repentance of the "born again" versus "non-born-again", could we ask who corresponds to whom as between the Pharisee and the tax-collector in the passage below?

Luke 18
9To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: 10“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his bosom and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

I asked a question, if a man of other faith such as Islam , juju, etc ask God for forgiveness over some bad things he has done. Is he forgiven?

If he does bad and ask God for forgiveness, when he dies will he go to heaven?
