The U.S. Department of Justice says Bagudu was involved in corruption with Abacha. The DoJ also contends that the Nigerian government is hindering U.S. efforts to recover allegedly laundered money it says it’s traced to Bagudu

If Buhari really wants to fight corruption, he knows what to do.

When the Isrealis wanted to take on perpetrators of the holocaust, they didn't go to the courts.

Bagudu got a sweetheart deal because of the difficulty in accessing money hidden in offshore locations. Since you can't prosecute him now, what any leader that actually wants to fight corruption would do is to use Mossad level tactics: grab him and relocate him to a safe place where he will be forced to cooperate.

Buhari’s administration reached a new agreement with him in October 2018, according to the court filings. That would result in the transfer of ownership of the investment portfolios, worth 141 million euros ($155 million) to the Nigerian state, which would then pay 98.5 million euros to Bagudu and his affiliates, according to Bates’ Dec. 23 opinion.

I have come to the conclusion that fighting corruption is rubbish. Any politician who claims that his main goal is to fight corruption has no clue on how to run the government.

Fighting corruption and growing the economy are two different things. Grow the economy, build roads, streamline or remove inneficiencies, make it easy for people to start and run businesses.


That's what will help me - not fight corruption.

Fighting corruption = fighting the opposition party. And people who falll out of favor with you. O tan.

The Americans should keep the money, afterall Buhari said Abacha never looted money, so the money does not belong to Nigeria.

Keep the money and use to fund deseving Nigerian scholars and Scientists who are keen on studying in the USA but from poor backgrounds based on merit and not federal character.

Never ever give the Nigerian government that money, it will simply be relooted and used to fund boko haram.
