Ekwulobia is the 4th urban town and 3rd largest economy in Anambra state. The town is the most prominent in Aguata Local Government Area, housing the local government’s headquarters, Anglican’s St. John’s Cathedral church, catholic’s St. Joseph Pro-cathedral, General hospital and so many business outfits.

Agba, one of the nine villages in Ekwulobia, houses some principal facilities in the town. These include: General hospital, Ekwulobia stadium, Ekwulobia Eke market, and major roads linking to Isuofia, Igbo-ukwu, and Ikenga.
The people of Agba community in Ekwulobia have brought to the attention of the State Governor, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano the recent developments in the community.

The President General of the Ekwulobia Development Union, a bonafide son of Agba village, Revd. Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeike while hosting members of the Press enumerated and praised Governor Akpokudike Global for visible efforts made so far in the town. These include completion of the Bishop’s Court road, installation of streetlights along the roads to enhance visibility and night while beautifying the environment.

While speaking on the road leading to the Ekwulobia General Hospital, the President General commended the promise and award of the contract by the Governor on February 19, 2019. He pleaded that the contractor should commence soonest on the road which is gradually turning into a deadly gully, as it is getting worse and will be worst when the rain start, putting over 300 residential buildings and the occupants in danger. The President General also called on the Governor to intervene in the state of the Ekwulobia General Hospital.

Speaking on the condition of the General hospital while showing newsmen around, the Chairman of the Agba Development Union, Prince Peter Michael Ezekanagha bemoaned the terrible state of the facility. He expressed sadness over the abandoned ambulances, buildings, lack of Medical officers, overgrown grass and unkempt environment which could serve as breeding grounds for harmful organisms and cause even more harm. He reiterated that the state of the hospital is not unconnected to the deplorable state of the road leading to the hospital.

Prince Ezekanagha also stated that the Ekwulobia Eke market, the 3rd biggest commercial hub in the state needs total revamping. There is neither electricity nor water supply in the market, no toilets, fire service station and waste management facilities are non-existing. He further pleaded for the government’s rapid intervention to rehabilitate the market.

The President General in his closing remark reiterated the town’s full support to Governor Willie Obiano Akpokudike Global, and promised even more support for the Governor. He charged Ndi Ekwulobia to continue being peace-loving and supportive of the government, while playing their roles to ensure that the town is developed to the Ekwulobia of their dreams.

Not impressed

Obiano should modernise Eke Ekwulobia and also dualize Ekwulobia round about so as to reduce Christmas traffic at d round about.

He should also pay attention to Aguata High School Ula- Ekwulobia.
Even Agu nwagba general hospital has turn a shadow of itself.
