Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity Secretary of Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, on Tuesday said deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi must have crossed some political lines under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Odumakin said Sanusi as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) lied about missing money during the Goodluck Jonathan so as to force a regime change that ushered in the Buhari administration.

“I have no strong views on his dethronement as there are more pressing important issues that should engage our attention ranging from insecurity to falling oil prices.

Sanusi was a CBN Governor who turned the office to a personal one aid donating public money like a Donatus all over the place. There was a time we used to know CBN Governors by their photographs and signatures on Naira notes.

“He became part of the political machinery in 2014 telling lies about missing money that was not proved to date. It was all scripted for regime change.

“Sanusi would be remembered as a progressive who wanted Almajiri poverty solved by spending N5billion to renovate his palace. Good riddance”

“Clearly he must have crossed some political lines for his head to be chopped by this vindictive government. He was part of them and they have thrown him away when they were done with him,” he said.

His major interest is the masses.... He yearned for a government that will put the masses first..

Just for the sake of clarity, I hope you're aware that the president and governors have something they call security vote, a fund which they are accountable to nobody for spending. While we talk about Dasuki's $2.1bn, has anyone ever asked about the $1bn signed by Buhari for security or how the ECA has been depleted to $70m. Most of the governors who fought for the sharing of ECA funds during GEJ's temure are now ministers in this govt. None of them have raised their voices now against the depleting of ECA by the FG they are a part of.

Another thing to consider is, none of the ministers under Jonathan have been accused of fraud by their predecessors including Diezani whom Buhari succeeded. It will be expected that having taken over the ministries, the can of worms will be open. Instead what we are hearing are tales of Fayose, FFK and Metuh who are more or less outsiders in the government.

In 1963 the Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, dethroned Sarki Muhammadu Sanusi (I). He was banished to Azare. It was personal, it was political.

In 1982 Governor Muhammad Abubakar Rimi returned the dethroned Emir to Wudil. He also created four new Emirates, the same ones that the Kano State House of Assembly has just created. Rimi did it to spite Sarki Ado Bayero. It was personal, it was political.

In 1983 Governor Sabo Bakin Zuwo reversed the creation of the four new Emirates. He did it to spite Abubakar Rimi. It was personal, it was political.

In 2014 Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso appointed Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Muhammadu Sanusi (ll)) to the throne of his grandfather, against the favoured Aminu Ado Bayero, the son of the late Emir of Kano. He did it to spite President Goodluck Jonathan. It was personal, it was political.

Goodluck Jonathan had earlier on suspended SLS as CBN Governor, for vociferously being a critic of the government he was serving in. It was personal, it was political.

Bear in mind that Kwankwaso and SLS were at daggers drawn. SLS had openly criticised Kwankwaso's decision to spend N700m to build a liason office in Abuja; Kwankwaso had in turn asked UBA to sack SLS who was a GM with UBA. It was personal, it was political.

Never mind that Kwankwaso subsequent appointment of SLS In 2014 to the throne of his forefathers suited Kwankwaso. It was personal, it was political.

Sarki Muhammadu Sanusi (Il) cannot on any account be called politically naive. He ought to have chosen his battles wisely. Emir Muhammadu Sanusi (Il) is a reformist ruler, his subjects need him desperately. Almajiranci/bara (street begging), girl-child education, abuse of polygamy, abuse of divorce, drug abuse are issues the Emir has placed on the front burner. His subjects need him desperately. By not balancing his actions and utterances with some circumspection he has allowed his sphere of influence to be whittled down by politicians who have no scruples. If he is dethroned it will be a massive let down. A brave and courageous General can only lead his troops to victory if he stays alive. Charging headlong into enemy lines is foolhardy, it will merely expose his troops to needless danger and defeat.

That is where we are today. Sarki Muhammadu Sanusi (Il) has played into the hands of Ganduje and his House of unscrupulous Assembly members. The well being of the people means nothing to them. It's personal, it's political

Now they say he lied. With oil at around 10 usd abacha stole over 5b. With over 100 usd gej and crew must have stolen over 100b usd

Some ediots are jubilating because he was against gej. the man raised a red flag of money that's meant for all of us and how gej sat and watch money being stolen by his elite.
